Totally agree with you Alf. I could never boo any one playing for Burnley, even after some dismal performances in the past I have never booed a player or the team.

I think either Vincent Kompany or Alan Pace should make a statement condemning such behaviour it does not help the team or the image of the club.

It's up to the individual Vintage, but it doesn't sit well with me.. Can't understand why anybody in their right mind can boo a Burnley player coming on as a sub in a pre season friendly. 🤔

That is just plain stupid! I agree with Vintage that there should be some reaction from the club. But more important for Wout how the players in the dressing room adressed it afterwards. The new players talk highly of the supporters. That kind of behaviour is damaging for the confidence of all players and should be addressed imo.

It's not done, it's not cricket and it reflects badly on our fans and Burnley Football Club. VK needs to sort this and quick.

However, after eight or nine pints of Leffe anything can happen even to the most fair minded of fans. I blame the early ferry and the late kick-off.

A lukewarm reception or no reception would have been better.

I can understand the reaction though. He made it quite clear when we were relegated that he had no intention of staying to fight for club - his only concern being his career. Rather like Owen Coyle he will be seen by many loyal fans that he is a traitor to the cause and not fit to wear a Burnley shirt. He will have to perform miracles to win the hearts and minds of the supporters.

Obviously, against Genk, he maintained his amazing scoring record of zero goals.

He was on the field for 10 minutes and didn't score, others were on the field for 90 minutes and didn't score.
As for his looking after his career by wishing to play in the World Cup Finals, good luck to him. Netherlands did not qualify in 2014 but managed to get to the finals in 2022 and Wout was told that he needed to be playing in the top division of a league to have a chance of selection. Had he not gone out on loan, it is likely that we would not have signed one of our stars from last season ---who knows?
Water under the bridge and all part of football as far as I am concerned, however, perhaps I believe in supporting players who wear the Claret and Blue, unlike quite a number of fans ---or so it would seem.

I do not agree with booing anyone - including opposition players so to boo Weghorst is plainly wrong. That being said he has not ingratiated himself with the supporters and also the players especially Connor Roberts having an altercation with Wout at the World Cup so I suspect he is not well received in the dressing room. It is the latter that would bother me the most - is he a disrupter of dressing rooms, I dont know. His displays for us and Man U were pathetic and I see him as a liability so we should get rid.

From the minute he signed for us, he knew( unlike us loyal fans) that he was in a win - win situation. If we stayed up, he would still be playing in the “top flight”.If we got relegated, then he was going anyway, just to further his career ,and World Cup ambitions. On that basis, I would suggest he was just here for the ride, and not fully committed to the cause. It’s no wonder the fans didn’t warm to him ,as they would have with other signings. He knew full well ,he had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. With his goalscoring record with us, in Turkey , and in the “ Theatre Of Dreams”, why would we want to keep him ? If he needed an excuse to leave East Lancashire, then last night’s fan reaction would have made it crystal clear ,that he wasn’t wanted at Turf Moor any longer.

Should not boo our own players, but brought that on himself. Not a jot of loyalty, and not much more idea. Get shut ASAP..... if anyone will have him.
