    20 years ago today - 5th Sept 2003.

I awoke for the first time without a father.

Great bloke with a terrific sense of dark humour and one of his favourites was…..

“You’re a long time dead son!

You weren’t kidding were you dad! 😢

I’m now just 6 years younger than he was when he passed, a sobering thought.

For me, life without a dad just hasn’t been the same.

I’m six years younger than when my dad died too mick. Sorry for your loss. I’m all confused over losing people because I lost them twice. I lost my mum at birth. (Rejected me) I lost my dad after the divorce when I was three (left and moved on) I gained new parents (Grandparents) who both died and then lost my dad and mum and step mum in death. I used to say when I was just 12 years old “I’ve got three mothers, two fathers and no parents” This is what got me into “attachment theory “. The value of good parents who give kids what they need in those early development years cannot be over stressed.
