New Director of Football/ Sporting Director ?

Not sure if this is true or a wind up/ p1ss take.

Just reported that Barnsley FC have appointed the permanent Sporting Director/ Director of Football to take over from Bobby Hassell, who has been doing the job on an interim basis.

He is Miaden Sormaz, currently Head of Analytics at Miami based private investment firm 777 Partners, who own a number of clubs around the world and currently trying to buy Everton. Prior to that he was Head of Analytics at Leicester City and Data Analyst at Huddersfield Town

Hopefully BFC will clarify if this is genuine with an Official Statement

Leeds, Sheffield and York.
So he’s no stranger to this part of the world.

Can only guess what he’s going to bring to the table.

So now we have a maths genius looking at stats for recruiting players.

A whizz kid chairperson with qualifications from the school of economics.

And now Sormaz who has an analytics background for a sizeable sports company.

Would love to be a fly on the wall listening to the conversations when these 3 get together.

The cost of their wages for a two hour discussion will be more than the next lad they are thinking abart bringing in from Pontefract Collieries.
And then there's the new CEO to join in.

A project that is "over engineered" with too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.

In the past Norman Rimmington or Eric Winstanley, tracksuit bottoms covered in mud, used to bob their head round the managers door after a training match and say, "That lad can laik, he'll mek a footballer"---and that was all that needed saying.

Which club would employ a player analyst the day after the transfer window closes when the club in question had a serious opportunity to achieve an automatic promotion spot. All they needed was to identify obtainable targets to give them the final impetus.
