    Botman and Wilock

Is ahead of schedule on his return from injury.

Club have released footage of him doing running on grass and light ball work.

Great news this - he was a massive miss in the middle (though BD obviously did well.

Wilock also head of schedule for his return.

I’m surprised they didn’t try and off load Wilcok, would have rather he left over Anderson.

I'd think his injury would have played a part in that.

That and the outside of the foot pass to Isak. Willock is only 24. The guy has rested the Achilles injury for months now. The lad is a different type of player to the rest of the midfielders we have. When he was in the team and fit he was consistent and impactful.

Also, he's got that mentality that Howe like. He's further along in his development and has more experience.

Willock will be in our squad for quite a while I'm guess. On the basis that he stays fit and maintains his pre-injury levels of course.

Why’s that Phoney? Willock scores and contributes much more in games than Anderson has. Anderson has potential but Willock delivers.

    Agreed.

Willock has scored and created and if can stay fit has another level to go to.

We all like Anderson and he's a decent player. But I don't understand people being upset by a sale that brought in good money.

Completely agree, plus let’s face it… he was already behind Miley in the pecking order and is older than Miley.

    Might Anderson make it… yes.
But would he have got the games here he needs, at 21 already, to develop… no, not with the players in front of him (which includes Willock)

On top of that, Alfie Harrison had been called up to the first team squad… at 18 years old he’s likely goi g to be the one to get time here and there while Miley is injured, and just maybe the club see’s him as having more potential than Anderson?

I think we’ll see a lot more young players come through, especially with Mitchell’s appointment… but think a number of those will end up being sold to generate income for the club and it will only be the cream of the crop that will get to make it seriously into the first team.

Chelsea make a fortune out of it, but with the way the club is going there’s be less guarantees for local lads making it unless they are exceptional (like Foden with City) and far fewer Longstaff black and white tinted players in the first team squad.

People have to leave the club. Yes, Anderson is a Geordie and I guess our general psyche still burns from the final day sale of Carrol to the Bindippers.

What we have to get our heads around as a fan base is that our academy is going to start generating lots of top top quality graduates, most of whom will not end up as first team regulars. The difference going forward is that Geordies and lad from the wider North East Region will no longer be developed at Southampton, West Ham or else where but in the Newcastle United academy and we as a club will reap the rewards of their sales or quality in the team.
