    Tripps to Toffees???

Just reported in the press this morning.

If it is true you could hardly blame him as it's close to his home town and could be his last good deal.

He's been one of the best deals this club has made and we will always be grateful to him.

Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier wants to leave St James' Park, according to the latest reports. David Ornstein of The Athletic, claims the England international wants to explore other avenues that will ensure him of first-team football this season.

The 33-year-old defender has been a mainstay in Eddie Howe's starting XI since joining the club from Atletico Madrid back in January 2022 but was an unused substitute during the Toon's 1-0 win over Southampton on the opening game of the season with Tino Livremento given the nod.

The report claims that Everton are keen on a move for Trippier before the transfer window slams shut in just over a week's time. The Toffees are said to be plotting a loan move and a reunion with Sean Dyche, who worked with the Magpies full-back during their time at Burnley.

Both Everton and Newcastle have reportedly held initial talks over a potential move, with Trippier having a year remaining on his current deal after signing fresh terms.

The right-back has also been the subject of interest in Saudi Arabia and Bayern Munich in recent months, but a move it yet to come to fruition. The latest development comes after Bruno Guimaraes was appointed Newcastle captain this season, with Trippier vacating the armband.

I'm ok with Tripps going and I wish him well but a loan move is a non-starter for me. Unless there is a loan fee and an obligation to buy.
We don't need his wages off the books, we need a trasnfer fee.

He'll be fondly remembered for some great performances, leadership and being the first to join the club after the takeover.
The fact of the matter is, errors have crept into his game which got us knocked out of the cup last year and directly resulted in at least two other poor results - basically losing us Europe. I get that Tripps has great ability still but Livramento is the first choice moving forward it seems.

Football-wise, I'm ok if he stays or goes. I think Tino is first choice now but his experience could be invaluable in helping him to develop and he's good cover to have.

Having said that, if he does go, he'd leave with a huge legacy despite only being here a short while, not just for his impact as a player but for what he represented in terms of the watershed moment of the takeover

In an ideal world he should have stayed, but I can see why he wants to leave. Simply more game time. Still, we need two good RBs.

First player through the door under the new owners, and what a difference he made for us! What a signing and such an important player for us.

A bit scary thought not to have him around the dressingroom. A true pro, leader and winner.

Think Zip sums it up best.

Also - his kids have moved to LiVARpool with his missus, so I can imagine he wants to be as near to them as possible.

I agree it needs to be a fee rather than a loan though.

He wants to come back to Burnley, but couldn't be guaranteed a first team place so looking at Everton.

Feels like the club is pushing him away. I don’t know why, we should be doing everything we can to convince him to stay. Liv gets injured then what?

There’s no way EH is pushing him away. There have been rumblings about a problem for a long time now and it looks like it’s family/personal reasons that he wants a move.

That does appear to b the major reason which has been nagging him for a while and probably has been the cause of him not being up to his full potential.

Naturally when there are family problems you need to be as close to your family as you can, so you can't blame the lad for that.

He has always put his best into every match he's played.

Off -the-field worries can affect players in different ways.

When Bowyer and Woodgate were involved in that racially aggravated assault case, Bowyer excelled on the pitch while Woodgate's form disappeared down a hole.

Could well account for Tripps' drop-off in form.
