    Our best ever window?

Given the circumstances, maybe. 12/13 we signed Foster, Lukaku and Yacob. 08/09 was Olsson, Mulumbu and Dorrans. Quite a few duds in both seasons too.

This window it’s been an incredible turnaround. I think this is the first window I’ve seen where we’ve had a not insignificant improvement in every position except goalie. Defence, midfield, wingers and striker.

To me, going into the summer we only had three players who held decent value if you ignore contracts. Kipre, Fellows and Palmer. I think Heggem looks a decent acquisition, Johnstone is worth a lot more than £3m and now we have Grant and Maja redemption. The age of the squad has dropped dramatically.

I know people who know people at the club. I think most do. I’m hearing that the club are excited about Diakite too, who just needs to adjust to the pace but he looks good in training.

With an impressive start, the squad value might be 3 times of that it was before the window started.

Indeed, Shilen, Carlos, Miles, Pearce and team have all done an excellent job this transfer window and from believing that this season was going to be very much about a slow rebuild and settling for a mid table finish, it now definitely looks like the aim is to reach the play offs at minimum.

There is certainly a new sense of positivity about the club and confidence is catching. Looking forward to this season now and to seeing what our new acquisitions can bring to the team! COYB!

We now have a better deeper squad the difficulty for CC will be decide on his best 11 and not tinker to much which he did at times last season when we had enough fit players.

It’s been a brilliant window. Only downsides for me is Diakite who has been dire so far giving the ball away as soon as he has it (sure he’ll improve with Carlos) and Holgate who’s another who’s had plenty of time to prove himself and hasn’t. Again I hope Carlos can weave some magic. The highlight has been the surprise signing for peanuts of Johnson.

Undoubtedly a magnificent window ‘given the circumstances’
I might argue that the new squad is better than the one we finished last season with !

I too think it has the potential to be a fantastic window for us but atm it is only potential. Seen enough of Heggem & Johnston to be confident they'll be good but the other 9 surely non of us have seen enough to have an opinion.

What I am confident about is of the ones that left only Kipre was any sort of loss and that includes Okay (time was right.)

Looking ahead I think Corberan brought in Heggem as a CH and intends to play Frabotta at LB.

    Exciting isn't it!

I’ve seen enough of Frabotta to form the opinion he’s absolutely shy te, I’ll happily eat my words if I turn out to be wrong.

I spent the last period yesterday longing for the days of Townsend due to Frabotta’s frantic and anxious play.

Heggem was Olsson like in comparison, a fine player, no need to move him inside.

Styles was a worrying mix of frantic and deer in the headlights as well.

Some turd polishing required by Carlos with this pair.

I vividly remember being at St Andrews when a full back we signed from Cambridge made his debut. He had an absolute shocker. After just 90 minutes I was absolutely convinced there was no way on God's earth he could ever make a decent footballer let alone improve an excellent Baggies team. Got that one wrong as he became the best right back we've had in the 60 years I've been watching the Albion. No need to name him.

I think its harsh to judge players off 10-15 mins at the end of a game. Lets see what they're like after 5-6 games with us. We've bought 12 players in, a lot of them will be squad players and some of them won't work out - its the law of averages.

Its about signing players who represent value. Frabotta or Styles, for example, are still young enough to have a solid season or two and be sold on for a much higher amount than what we've invested into them. If one of them does kick on, we've done well.
