    Maggie Smith

Just read of the passing of Dame Maggie Smith at 89. Star of stage and screen, I remember her for things like The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie rather than some of her later stuff. May have first made a name for herself in theatre but she was certainly also one of those actors who had screen presence. RIP.

She was great as Hagred in Harry Potter.

She was excellent along with Timothy Spall and Ronnie Barker in My House in Umbria

An absolute star of screen and stage. Not a big tv fan but we did watch Downton Abbey. One of the main reason for watching was Dame Maggie Smith. Her portrayal of Violet Crawley was exemplary. Her quips and facial expressions made the series a worthwhile watch. Genuinely brilliant.

RIP Lady you’ve earned your rest.

I have always been a big Kenneth Williams. It would seem that he and Maggie Smith were very good friends and he wrote some nice and funny things about her. RIP
