At least you didn't call it the 'shire'. Aberdeenshire is bad enough.

It's a big area, are you based in one part in particular?

Driving up the coast is decent enough. Plenty of places to stop and see, especially if you have a dog and you will get a proper mannies chipper supper at most, along with a surprisingly decent selection of other food outlets that have sprung up over the past few years.

The castles are decent, if you have never been before. Distilleries if you're into Whiskey.

Nearest town to us is Insch. Managed to book a place with no central heating or flushing bog, which has went down a treat with the wife.

Think we’re going to pop up to Pennan & Fraserburgh today. I’ll go to a chipper and tell them it’s called a chippy

Findlays chipper in Fraserburgh is an excellent chipper. They have another one just down the road from it which is supposedly even better, but I can't vouch for it. A cracking ice cream shop in Fraserburgh too.

The Fraserburgh Lighthouse museum is worth a look if you are in the area.

Addng to TheDeeDon's comments on castles/distilleries how about any of the following

Climb Bennachie (it's got a number of routes to the top ranging on length and steepness but all good walks with a dog)
Tour of Peterhead Prison
If you fancy a Highland League game, Buckie and Fraserburgh are playing at home Wednesday evening
As well as Distilleries there is a tour of Brewdog facilities at Ellon
If you like walking the dog on a beach then Balmedie Beach is pretty good

If you head for Rhynie (head west from Insch on the B9002 and turn left on to the A97) you can easily climb Tap O Noth and examine the vitrified hill fort (Iron Age, I think) at its easily-reached summit. Turn right on to the A941, and it should take you to the car park.

I walked about the town as if I owned the gaff. None of their hard men, or so called hard men, fancied it. Can’t say I blame them either. They’ll have grown up on tales of how hard folk from the central belt are.

Going to nip into Inverurie tonight for something to eat and a scrap.
