Sounds a bit daft, how can it be ok to whip a horse 7 times but not 8? Just get rid of the whips. Level playing field. Happy horses.

It can't take them long to count up to ten Alf, so why not just disqualify the horse right after the race. Job done. I think they were taking a chance putting an Irish apprentice up, the rules are more lax over there and he's not the first Irish jockey to come a cropper over here, it's caught out plenty more experienced than young Jamie.

Too many runners to go through the race in any detail Alf, so I never took much notice of either of them, but if you look at Alphone's runs at Chester in May and Newcastle in June and take into account the trainer, it was certainly worth a couple of quid at 33s.

No bloody good spotting this two hours after the race though is it.
