One of the best things idiots like this guy, Boris, Farage etc. do is convince people that politicians 'are all the same'....

Somehow this excuses them at being terrible at their jobs. He should be nowhere near parliament.

Lee Anderson reckons people can cook a meal for 30p, he also said MPs shouldn't have 2nd jobs just before taking a 2nd job himself. He also got found out trying to plant a person who said he'd vote for him during a campaign. because he'd left his mic on. He has also switched from Labour, to Tory, to Reform. So why do people find him attractive to vote for? Baffling.

Politics is the one area in this country where a bit of bluster can take you a long way. I watched Trump on tv just now talking a load of nonsense and barely being able to answer a direct question. This guy has a realistic chance of being the president. So why are the public so gullible when listening to these type of people. It literally blows my mind.

Firstly agree Lee Anderson is a horrible human being who says a lot of hateful things. Gives populism a bad name. That doesn't mean everything he says can be dismissed as wrong.

'Politics is the one area in this country where a bit of bluster can take you a long way.' Really?I can assure you I have experienced lots of occasions in life where bluster has gotten folk a very very long way. I bet you can too!

I think imposters are likely in most walks of life and in different specialties but I think it’s more concerning and transparent in politics.

Boris and Truss are prime examples of people who should have been nowhere near where they got to and it ended in tears!

Your first sentence exactly! As a guiding principle I think that it's very doubtful that anybody can really ever be wrong about everything (even those whose general views or acts we may find abhorrent) just as nobody can ever be right about everything either (even if we generally admire them).

As a for populism, I guess there must always be more than a grain of truth in what they are saying otherwise they wouldn't get such levels of support. It's the way they interpret things, push agendas whilst ignoring alternative views and deliberately manipulate the fears of others for their own ends that makes them dangerous. But then politics has always been about power regardless of party or political persuasion and too often this trumps genuine service to the country or any such altruistic ideals.

As you also point out though, such individuals are not just found in politics but in any walk of life where they can get ahead regardless of genuine ability. Part of human nature I suppose.

Shout louder than the rest and tell the proletariat what they want to hear and you’ll probably win the most votes. People really are like sheep but we’re all at fault in that respect, at least to some degree. Propaganda works. In my opinion, the way to vote in elections, whether a general or local, is to take a look around you, what needs to be done, then see which of the candidates in your area most closely fit the bill. If everyone did that, I’m sure we would have better government; alas……!

Last week we had local elections, the Conservative won, yet just a few months ago the Tory was booted out after a Labour win. Nobody I know around here has heard even the faintest peep out of the Labour woman who became our MP (btw i have nothing against female MPs). The one candidate in our local election who I know has done a huge amount of good work locally as a councillor only came second; a big loss to our community, in my opinion. He stood for the Green Party. In the coming months we will be seeing comments on ‘social media’ about all the things that need to be done around here, yet the same people are being voted in who have created the very issues that folk are moaning about!

Very true, people are mugs and fall for it time and time again.
