Romared Match Thoughts Shrewsbury Town v Barnsley

Back on the road where we seem happier and play our best football although I'm far from convinced this particular group is likely to have as good an away record as last season .

To be honest I'm struggling to start these match day threads because there isn't that much to say before the game actually kicks off , most of what I could say we've all said a thousand times .

As last season our away performances are keeping us in the upper part of the league.

    W4 D0 L2

Wins at 21st placed Crawley and 24th placed Burton should mean a win is nailed on at 22nd placed Shrewsbury.

Crawley, Shrewsbury and Burton now occupy the bottom three places. The league table is beginning to take shape and these three are looking to be heading for relegation. We have the final one of the bottom four, Cambridge, as our next away game so here's hoping for a full set. Away fixtures then get a little tougher--Wrexham A, Exeter A, Bolton A, Peterborough A in December.

To be honest SB to me it is not their current league position which you look at to make a judgement on the result it is the position and form a team is in when you play them in that matters , Burton and Crawley were not in the bottom three when we played them and for example I remember a couple of seasons ago we went to Cambridge after about six games and they were in the top six and on good form , we scored 3 and won the game comfortably , at the time it was a great result but as the season went by they sank lower and lower and were different opposition to the team we played early on , so for me you can only look at who you are playing at the actual time of the match and not weeks later when anything can change , also we all remember the season we were in the bottom 3 at xmas and got promoted , my point is that things change throughout the season and basically it is down to current form to a judge the performance in any match.

True Shads. teams can have good runs and bad runs in a season.

Burton haven't won a game and lost 8

Shrewsbury hve won 2 and lost 10

I think most people would suggest they will struggle this season and they are likely to provide weaker opposition than say Birmingham, Wrexham and Huddersfield.

Tha just dunt know who's gonna start does tha. I'm all for utilising the squad but perhaps not on this magnitude where the team constantly changes. However, we must bear in mind that it's still early days for Clarke.

One thing I will say is that certain players are now finding fitness and form and we should stick with these to gain some momentum. Humphrys is starting to play well and gaining more match fitness as each game passes. DKD is finding his feet too in a Red shirt. Russell coming in has made a big difference but his match fitness isn't quite there yet. When it does, he's one of our best players. Young Gent is improving all the time too and impressing these last couple of games. However, I'd like to see Cotter back in the team to offer some pace which we lack.

Shrewsbury is a difficult place to go but they're struggling badly this season so I'm definitely looking at 3 points if that bloody defense can get it's act together

Yeah Humphry's is able to find himself free in attack. I like the look of Donkey Dick too.

I'm not too concerned about daft goals we concede because sooner or later Clarke will realise with Phillips, DKD, Humphry's, Cosgrove and Watters in the squad. Attack is the best form of defence.

I think sometimes we're dropping points not trough opposition prowess but simply because we aren't committed enough to out own principles.

Rant over lol. Have a great weekend and hopefully we'll bag the points.

Tha can't keep conceding stupid goals though. That's madness. I think there always has to be balance. If that defence had got it's act together this season we'd have had another 7 or 8 points on the board.

We have only 1 clean sheet in 12 league games. Trying to get success wi those kind of statistics is extremely difficult.
