Is our ‘Best Midfield’ as bad as we think?

Just got booted out of a Facebook group for disagreeing with comments from the group admin.

He/ she saying that Tonali should have been the one subbed because Tonali had played in the international break and was tired/jet lag (f**king idiot probably didn’t even realise both games were in Italy &#129315

I only really realised that we have never had our best midfield play a full game together this season.

Even though Howe said Tonali wasn’t ready start, he played full games in the first international break and was one of the best players in both games.

He’s not started a game TILL the Citeh game at the end of Sept.

He’s been subbed off every game he does start

The only time we have come back from behind and won was Wolves, when Howe took Longstaff off for Tonali at the start of the second half.

So… I think I might have been jumping the gun by saying the midfield doesn’t work… it’s not been given the time together starting till 4 weeks ago, and never seen a full game out yet.

    For me… that’s f*^king staggering!

If I was Tonali I would be knocking on the managers door asking for an explanation. Saying hes not full match fit yet is just plain stupid, and Eddie hasnt come out and said that but he has in a roundabout way, a couple of times. Tonali must be really pissed off, and i wouldnt be surprised if deep down he cant wait to get out of here, and back to Milan. if things dont improve i expect a few others will be feeling the same.

And out of the 4, currently I'd drop Joelinton.

A system that can't make a 3 of Joelinton, Tonali and Bruno work is a system that maybe needs to be changed (as in, the jobs they are being asked to do) It's often said that Longstaff does Bruno's running for him, Maybe a bit oversimplified but maybe there's something in it?

The facts* are also that we've not won without Longstaff (am I right?-3 wins and a draw with him playing from the start.

*although they're not facts if I'm wrong

We beat Soton with him on the pitch… they had a f**kton of chances though… but were sh!t in front of goal.

We got a draw with Bournemouth after Longstaff came off.

We got the winner against Spurs after he came off

We scored 2 to win it, in second half against Wolves, after he went off

He didn’t feature at all against Fulham

We equalised against City before he was on the pitch

Everton 0-0 - came on at 70 mins

Came on very late against Brighton

Came on when we were already 2-1 down to Chelsea

So was only involved in the team when we sealed 1 win (against 1 point Soton) and 1 draw

I made my point and never got a response… suspect my comments didn’t fit the narrative and healthy debate isn’t welcome unless it agreed with their point of view 🤣
