Ot why is fresh water fishing crap

Carp etc in a pond getting caught over and over again a sport .they can't go anywhere. What is the sport in that,?
Get in a boat 14 miles of the east coast and bring some cod and haddock back.
Bouncing about on heavy swells .
    Proper fishing.

Hear hear. I?m not a fisherman but I live on the Gulf of Mexico and apparently it?s a fisherman?s paradise. My neighbour goes out daily on his boat and tells his missus that he?s off to the supermarket and what fish does she fancy tonight 😊

'bring some cod and haddock back'....if you're going to catch one, try landing an 86lb Conger Eel, then you know you've been sea fishing

I must dig that video out and re live the moment once again as it's landed on the deck and we all scatter as it thrashes about .

Fished from age of about 9 - used to do Aston ponds / greasbro dam etc. Gave up for golf for years then a mate got me carp fishing. Did get into it for a few yrs - went France : Canada etc but after spending a full week fishing 18 hrs a day two yrs on the trot : spending silly money on gear and not a single bite - bawlax to it and jacked it.

I live 250 yds from the sea now but dont fish - to me it?s brutal and I don?t like the cruelty of it. Coarse fishin similar but generally with care and they do get to go back to their fishy mates !

The Mortimer an Whitehouse programme does however give more to the whole friendship , countryside tranquility and peace of sittin by the watter

    And away !!!!!

I never fished until I realised how many came from all over to fly fish for trout at the local river.
Picked up a fly rod and now love it. It's red hot so don't need waders, your not sat in one spot watching a float, instead making your way upstream casting into deeper sections. Passes a couple of hours and usually catch something when I'm not untangling the line from overhanging trees.

Now now don't spit the dummy out, I'm merely saying that bringing home some cod/haddock isn't the be and end all of sea fishing.

It was a truly magical moment when I landed that monster and one I will never forget. My post isn't about being better/bigger than your catch just a play on my best experience with sea fishing. Good luck with your future trips out there and bring some more home pal.

Oh, and I'm back to baiting/luring the carp very soon. It's all about skill not pot luck at carp fishing

I fished carp for about 14 yrs - the best fish I caught were on two or three bits of sweetcorn or freelinin bread.

All this bawlax on bait and bait boats with fish finders/ cameras electric this a that , rowing out an dropping bait, different rigs an stuff aint real fishin to me anymore.

Ok some people have made a livin out of it - that blooody awful Monster Carp tv thing makes me cringe 😡

Having said all that - for years I loved goin - Keadby on Riley?s bus for ten Bob was a real day out as a ****ager who caught bugger all many a time but enjoyed bein with me mates !!!

Tight lines mate - oh and old bloke called Jack Hargreaves?s in the 60?s an 70?s on telly was a legend !!

Regarding fishing tackle, i was once told that everything below the water is designed to catch the fish, everything above the water is designed to catch the angler.
