When i was a lad there was a toy shop in Bradwells court with an incredible, very large plane in the window, it had a big propellor and a mega elastic band, i wanted that. Cost too much.
Like Paul Barry, a child wanting a toy he cant afford, and in the process, for his own ends, financial too, aka the ground, buying something he cant afford and in doing that, breaks it.
Its professional football, the key word is professional, money needed.
Not only has he bit on more than he could chew, the fans think hes wonderful.
Buying th ground, redecorating the training ground...cost 6 million, thats peanuts in todays game.
There will be no return from div 2 unless Barry goes and some serious money is invested. As Barry said, business wise, the tyres need pumping up first.
It shouldnt stop there. The tyres might be road worthy , but thr tyres hold up a robin reliant.
Where is the money for the team?, its needed.....now. It was a lie, Barry knows that buying decent players is beyond his means.
He has said he will bail out from the start, that a few crumbs like the training ground mollifys opinion. That leaves an a cost of 2 million for the training ground, plus odds and sods, counter weighted by 20 30 40 million when he sells up.
Nice.
He could put a covenant on the ground.....haaaaaa. Hes old, selling cant be far away, who needs this ? United fans have been battered, they have low self esteem, anything is better than no existence, how wrong is that. The fans need an owner who promotes the club, is able to compete in the transfer market.
Pumping up the tyres is all Barry can do, if United are to become a championship club, Barry is not the man to do it.
Now the tyres are full, a new engine is needed, a new body, a digital interior, air con, heated seats etc. To grow a business it needs investment. Not a kid wanting a plane whos engine is a bubber band. And lands on pumped up tyres.
Barry is handicapping this club, not making it grow, as he mentioned....he tirned away investors with deep pockets.
Hes having fun though watching his rubber banded plane. Bolton away, balsa wood against an F16.
