Hi, we took Barca to FIFA .Who ruled that although he signed a youth contract with us , it only protected our right to a fee if he moved to a domestic club .
There was was a form and signature missing on international moves , Barca should of paid us ?350k for our development .
If had gone to straight to the villa ,we would have got a big fee .
Young players can't sign a pro contact till they are 17 .
Mark Harrison and the youth goalkeeping coach left the the Albion for the villa in 2019 .
So doesn't have have any preverance involment with most of our current crop of youngsters .

How many leave and don?t make it or don?t achieve what they are or think they are capable of.

These young people need to manage their expectations and not believe the hype of the people who latch on to them, notably agents.

I wonder how many, who had good prospects at our place, left and regretted it.

Our academy is great, but our pathway for them to get through to the first team has been quite poor. We don't pay a lot and other clubs do. Given football careers are quite short, why would you stay with the low paying club that don't progress players that well? I think we're starting to improve but still a way off.

It's a real shame we lost Louie, but if you're a serious young footballer, would you turn down La Masia to stay in West Brom?

I accept absolutely what you say BM, my point was having realistic expectations. We may have been tight in providing a realistic package, however, what have those that have left benefited long term, financially and performance wise.

Loyalty long term can be far more rewarding than the short term outlook, even taking into the length of a football players career. Not everyone is going to be a top international star and earning eighte en, twenty or thirty thousand a week long term is better than where some have ended up I suspect.

Suppose Rodger?s, Azaz, Wood, Kane Wilson, Roofe and Ferguson have benefitted leaving us.

O?Shea, Palmer and Fellows is all I can think of that have benefitted in staying. There are a few who had opportunities but weren?t good enough to take them.

If we can get to a point where loyalty is a better option than the money route, then I think we?ll keep more youngsters.

Loans are helping us but next season Taylor, Griffiths and maybe Bostock will be looking for opportunities.
