    Player ratings v Tranmere

Bass 8.5* - kept us in the game, the one he kept out on the line was a brilliant save.
Johnson 6 - much better than Tuesday, a fairly solid performance.
Platt 6 - a bit below his usual standard, but still did ok.
Bedeau 7.5 - played well, some great blocks and decent forward runs.
Gordon 5 - struggled to get any decent crosses in.
Palmer 6 - always made himself available, but didn't use the ball as well as he usually does.
Abbott 5.5 - can't fault his effort, but not a lot came off today.
Jarvis 5 - the odd decent moment, but looks lightweight and didn't offer much threat.
Grant 4.5 - struggled to make any sort of impact.
Whitaker 5.5 - a bit like Grant until he produced a bit of class for the first.
Jatta 6 - no service in the first half but kept battling and got his reward.

Traore 6.5 - looks to have something about him, credited with 2 assists.
Tsaroulla 6 - got forward and did his bit defensively.
    Edwards n/a
    Hinchy n/a

Pretty much agree but got to say I thought Jarvis was very poor.
He still has a lot to learn but rarely showed for the ball and often strutted around like he was prime Grealish. His work rate was badly lacking.
I thought both his and Whitakers body language at times was terrible but Whitaker grew into the game and obviously scored.
I was talking to a couple of Tranmere fans walking to the car and they were gutted as they felt it was their best performance of the season.
I thought it was our worst at home but all that matters is the points.

Great ratings and comments. I'll go...

Bass 8 - Sting of fine saves, hardly a blemish
Johnson 7 - Good job, lots to build on
Platt 6 - Solid, but there has been a slight drop off from the first half of the season.
Bedeau 8 - MoM, and to think he was doubtful for this game. Great
Abbott 6 - Good start but faded and not his usual self
Palmer 6 - Really anonymous first half, did better in the second
Gordon 3 - He'll have to ask himself how he followed a MoM award with that
Whitaker 7 - Another match winner. It's all about bringing home those 3pts so has to get a ratings boost
Grant 5 - Bloodless sort of game
Jarvis 5 - Struggled, especially defensively, but not as bad as others make out IMO
Jatta 8 - Battled all afternoon and didn't do much wrong at all, deserved his goal

    Subs
Traore 7 - Great impact sub
Tsaroulla 7 - Did more damage today than in the full game midweek
    Edwards 5
    Hinchy 6

I like the OP ratings from Elite but I also like these... Bass was class today but I also thought Bedeau was excellent.. midfield was absolutely pants in the first half and the ever reliable Abbott decided to have his worst game for us.... Whittaker frustrated me... knocked off the ball so many times and then scores an absolute peach... I think Traore needs to start next week as the guy clearly has something about him...can't wait until he scores his first goal for us... his dancing with the corner flag was hilarious 😂

Bass - 7.5 - Once again, the only thing from stopping us from being humiliated.

Johnson - 6 - Better than Tuesday but still not that great.

Platt - 6 - Okay, but as others have said, he's not performing as well as he was last year.

Bedeau - 8 - Made some superb blocks and was probably the best player on the pitch for us.

    Gordon - 4 - He just isn't good enough.

Jarvis - 5 - Was terrible first half but did improve in the second and put some decent tackles in.

Abbott - 5.5 - His worst game in a notts shirt so far.

Palmer - 6 - Not great but okay.

Grant - 3 - Terrible yet again. So lightweight and lethargic every time he plays.

Whittaker - 6 - Pretty poor prior to his goal but he showed great tenacity during it and it was a good finish.

Jatta - 6.5 - Worked so hard and took his goal well but had virtually no service at all throughout again.

Tsaroulla - 6.5 - Immediately showed why he should be in ahead of Gordon at any given opportunity, great cross for the goal.

Traore - 6.5 - Linked well with Whitaker for the first goal.

Edwards - 5 - wasted the chance to kill of the game by ruining a promising counter attack in order to turn backwards yet again and fall on the floor.

    Can't really rate hinchy.

Conor Grant really is going to have to start showing something. I know he came to us as the makeweight in the Crowley deal, but at the moment I'm not seeing what he adds. We might as well have left an empty squad space or given one of the young prospects like Reynolds or Sanderson a chance. There must be more to Grant than we've seen so far, because he was Young Player of the Year in his early days at MK Dons having been bought for a fee, but right now the guy just looks lost.

For someone who’s played plenty of games in L1, Grant hasn’t exactly stood out at this level. In 20 games, he’s contributed one assist and two goals - for an attacking midfielder, that’s nowhere near good enough. He was the makeweight in the Nemane deal, BTW.

I couldn't agree more. I was just saying before the game on Saturday that I don't know what he's for - I struggle to work out exactly what position he is playing or what he is trying to achieve. He doesn't do much wrong during a game but that's probably because he doesn't do anything at all, he just appears to be a passenger. But then other people tells me he does great things, so I thought maybe it's just me and it's good to find I'm not alone in my opinion.

He actually came to Notts as part of the Nemane deal, but at the time the club said that we had been trailing him for quite some time and that his availability was what convinced us to let Nemane go. So clearly they see something in him: I can't wait to be convinced myself.
