    Freddie Woodman

Now that he?s been released by Preston North End, if he?s willing to be back up to Nick Pope or a new, as yet unsigned first choice keeper, I think this would make sense in terms of depth (Fraser Forster has been mentioned as well), but more importantly, as a home grown player for Europe and at 28, his best years as a keeper may be still to come.

It?s a struggle to understand how he never quite made it after all the hype when he was first coming through the youth teams. It could also be the catalyst for a bit of a refresh and clear out of the goalkeepers, like Mark Gillespie and the Vlachodimos if they can get a fee for him etc.

    Any thoughts?

Not a bad shout, would tick HG talent box. Would be cool for him to come home.

Dunno why it never panned out for him. We've had a lot of 'Almost men' - Chopra, Rammage, etc. Our academy was always 'B' Grade.

If make more sense that the plans to resign Elliot or Ruddy. Vlachadimos is probably gonna move on, you'd hope so. Garner a bit of cash back against the PSR favour we did with Forest.

    Interesting question Bix.

I saw him play live only once. I worry about him under the high ball. Does anyone actually rate him?

He's not bad but he's not great.

He's playing at his level. If he was better than Preston North End a Prem club would have signed him or he'd have got a contract extension.

Preston North End let him go for good reason.

Not sure what he'd bring to the table. If he couldn't make it there then why would he eith us? Whats the point? Surely even for a back up keeper we should be aiming higher. A back-up in any position should be challenging the starter IMO.

In terms of how much was expected of him, I suppose it's no different from the 'exciting young attacking talent' we were promised, e.g Armstrong, Chopra, Ranger, Lua Lua, etc who turned out to not be able to live up to the hype.

    Wouldn't have him back, tbh.

    Fresh legs then hahaha.

Hardly inspiring. Not sure he's even a benefit for the HG quote. I came to NUFC as a 19 yr old.

Don't understand this link at all.
