    Season ticket cards

Had an email this morning saying they're now £1.50 to buy a physical card and a link to purchase them from the ticket office site. Naturally, this being Rotherham United, there's no option anywhere on there to buy a physical card, unless my eyes aren't working? Has anyone else managed to buy one online?

According to the email the physical card can be bought at the Red and White shop for ?1.50. If you can't go in they'll post it to you for ?2. I don't like digital (guaranteed to go wrong) but from the club's point of view this will stop season ticket holders passing their cards on to friends when they can't get to the game. Now those people will have to pay to go because most season ticket holders will go digital and not spend ?1.50 on something which it is already theirs! It sucks

No, it says to buy online for ?1.50, and then you collect it from the shop free of charge or have it posted to you for an extra 2 quid.

Well mine hasn't auto renewed like it did last year and because I didn't call/go down in time they now want to charge me the price of a new ticket. (extra ?45) I told them to shove it. Despite knowing there is a big issue with this the club are not offering any leeway or flexibility. I guess they must think there will be a stampede for new season tickets and they can get more money.
To top this off I get an email from the club today asking me how I would like to receive my season card??? You can't make this up.
Apparently they are charging an extra ?5 too for setting up a new direct debit that should already exist so check your accounts

    Same issue for me.

The link didn't work on my laptop but I managed to get through the link on my mobile. Once through, the link took me to a generic landing page with no reference to the options in the email, and I can see no way to make a choice on the website. Obviously not going to be critical of the club, because they're "well run, professional, commercially savvy, dynamic" etc.

As I did on the day of season tickets going on sale at 9am (actually mid-morning, once someone realised the link to season ticket sales was required), I'll wait a bit and see if it gets remedied. I don't fancy trekking into Rotherham to try buying the cards and have no idea if that's possible without first nominating online, but the 'convenience' isn't convenient for my youngest.

I can imagine a slow moving sea of white hair around the turnstiles on opening day as people saving a couple of quid try to negotiate turnstiles with their Tesco mobile. :-D

Yep. 17th in the queue. Loads of people obviously confused. You know what, the powers that be at Rufc couldn't run a whelk stall. Their email begs more questions than it answers. Why can't they do a test before they come up with a "plan"??

Are there any legal bods still on here who can advise if this is legal or not?

Venues and tour operators for concerts now have to outline all costs up front price of ticket, admin, postage etc I thought they can't advertise tickets as £50 and then only when you go through the process of buying add on hidden charges and it cost you £70. They have to state its £70.

And there must be some legal rule that they can't charge you £50 for a ticket, take £50 from your bank and then suddenly blackmail you into paying £130 postage to actually get hold of the ticket (or other product) you've already paid for.

Yet this is what RUFC are doing. Hidden costs that aren't mentioned upfront. And take your money and then charge you £1.50 to get hold of the product they've already taken your money for.

And as someone already mentioned why are they charging for a piece of plastic I already own. Surely to send a ticket digitally to a piece of plastic costs the same as sending a ticket digitally to a phone.

    Any ideas?

My season ticket receipt (renewal) says quite clearly "Physical Season Card - No Fee"

Never knew why they couldn't just issue a "non season specific" card which, if renewed, just becomes valid for the next season
