Whilst Nestor’s statement provides some transparency relating to the serious financial situation Shilen acquired and the inevitable consequences, it offers little comfort as to the football management. Nebulous statements with nothing concrete in terms of future plans.

Clearly Mason’s appointment was directly attributed to him. No doubt Nestor will have ensured Key Performance Indicators within his contract, facilitating early termination without cost ??!! In any other business, the shortfall in Mason’s performance would make his (Nestor’s) own position untenable.

Nestor’s CV provides little comfort with vague references to his strengths in change organisation management.

I wonder whether Shilen will take any action ?

Good post Prando, Lose to QPR and Nestor may push Mason under the bus before his own position comes under scrutiny. Clearly Mason has lost the fans now and this was clear today and the many hundreds of posts on social media. Nothing to do with bad luck and whilst certain positions need improving our players are no worse than at least four teams within or around the play offs. The issue is Mason and judging by his reactions and hand in pockets stance - he?s clearly out of his depth.

Unless anyone is deluded it?s simple - on current form we are heading for the relegation spots.

For me the Nestor statement was a disgrace and to save his own face.

Wolves next year? It will be Walsall if Mason is not gone.

Nestor's post re-iterated the perilous financial situation we were in when they took over but surely we already knew this so maybe it was more of a reminder for those fans hoping for some kind of miracle transfer window that this was not likely to happen due to on-going financial pressures? If so, fair enough but the original plan was to try and aim for a play off position this season which we are increasingly unlikely to come even close to.

Of course, sometimes in life things can happen unexpectedly and plans have to be re-adjusted but I would argue that any downward adjustment by Nestor here is primarily down to failures on his own part in the recruitment of Mason and of Bany. Both of these were taken on because they were thought to fit the model but neither have worked out-Mason isn't achieving and Bany has barely played due to injury/fitness.

Some elements of the plan-the lowering of the average age of the squad for example or the improvements in our financial circumstances-have been a clear success but emphasising these whilst not acknowledging the failures does smack of deflection and of the face saving that Al mentioned.

There are always nuances and Mason has not been helped either by injuries to a shallow squad nor by some refereeing decisions but that is the nature of the job he took on (which I am sure he would be the first to acknowledge) and, as a manager tasked to get the best out of his available resources, he is clearly missing too many KPIs (and, as Prando quite rightly says, surely he must have had KPIs set?)

Likeable bloke he may be and we can all see some glimmers of what this team can do but the bottom line is that Mason is not hitting the targets expected as part of the plan for this season and the ultimate goal of a play off position at the end will not be met by quite a wide margin if the current form continues with us in grave danger of finishing up closer to a relegation battle. This is not acceptable given the potential within the group of players we do have and Mason's position surely cannot be tenable for very much longer?

I agree that in quite a few games we have not had the rub of the green, referees decisions etc., but having said that we have missed far too many golden opportunities to score and conceded goals that in the recent past we would not have done.

Masons selections and substitutions have often been baffling, this, in addition to so often playing well for only 45 minutes has left us in the perilous position that we now find ourselves in. Both the players and management are responsible for this and have to pull together to get us out of this mess, which it is. The fans, also, have to play their part but the fans reaction during games is perfectly understandable as performances overall have not been good enough.

It is not too late but improvement has to start immediately, unfortunately I am not confident that this will be achieved. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

The Grand Plan, such that it is, is the work of Mr Nestor, or so it seems. He has overseen the sales of Palmer, Heggem, Fellows, Furlong and Taylor. I have read his reasoning behind that but how true it all is, who knows, maybe there could have been other ways to meet league regulations? His recruitment hasn’t been wonderful, either, specifically Bany. Obviously, of course, he is the man begind the appointment of Ryan Mason, so Nestor is, I would suggest, more to blame for our position than Mason is. However, I really don’t see us going down. Come the end of the season, I would like us to appoint a ‘manager’, as opposed to a ‘Head Coach’; Derek McInnes would be my choice but he won’t come if he has taken Hearts into the Champions League. I can’t think of anyone else who fits the bill.

No chance of McInnes sadly, I would take Carrick or OGS. Is there any guarantees? Of course not but unlike Mason both have extensive managerial experience in this tough league, a point to prove, and better contacts than Mason will ever have. They will also command respect due to their playing history which would be a great deal more than a 34 year old chap who has never managed.

If someone comes in - they must get rid of Abella and Morrison who are part of the problem.
