    Gilchrist

I get how the Bany situation can happen. Talented young player, with an unlucky injury/fitness situation.

I get the signing of Phillips and Mepham.

I get SIJ to a degree, there is a player in there.

But I cannot get the Gilchrist signing at all.

I watched him a few years ago at Chelsea, he played centre mid and he was excellent. A real snotter that celebrated every tackle. The fans loved him. He clearly cant pass though and was brought in just to break up play.

Last season he played 30 times for a promotion contender but got injured second half of the season.

He isnt a wing back, but he didnt even play when we used the right back slot as a more traditional right back and played a centre half there. I think is something we dont know about the transfer; maybe he has had a lingering injury.

Now we have wing backs, I cant fathom where he fits. Such a waste of a couple of million.

Bit bemused myself. I had personally never watched him play before but from what I had read, I certainly expected more from him. As it is, I think Campbell -despite being more naturally a central defender-is better at RB. Also, if Gilchrist was a decent central midfielder at Chelsea, how come he hasn't had his chance to play in that position for us with Mowatt being out?

Recent acquisitions have all supposedly been brought in because they have been said to fit a particular game model we want to play but I see scant evidence of that working out!

You are correct Omeg, Campbell has been decent at right back but Gilchrist and Taylor have been poor. Bany, cannot be judged and Illin-Junior did not set the world on fire. I feel that both Mepham and Phillips were OK under Mason and I still think that Griffiths should be first choice over O Leary.

In conclusion I would say that the new acquisitions fitted Masons model far better than Ramsay and there lies the problem. As I have stated before, under Mason we were always in games but that is not the case now. Ramsay has to change or we get rid!

I think we'll see Gilchrist starting for us tomorrow 😉.

Doubtless along with Taylor in instead of Styles, Dike leading the line ahead of Heggabo and Jed replacing Illing Junior 😃

Although Styles is average for me he goes bring energy and gives 100%. Why would you employ a wing back then start with Jed who has no pace.

Rather have Heggebo than Dike but he?s flat footed. I would also have Maja ahead of Dike who appears to have munched less pies.

Please no Gilchrist or Taylor and Mepham can do one too!

Picking up on your last sentence - yes we wasted a couple of million and paid at least three million over the odds for a flat footed striker in Heggebo. Then we make cheap managerial appointments in Mason and Ramsey. Had we paid that wasted money to a McInnes, Carrick and Bilic we could have been in the play offs.

You always pay the best for the man at the top as big blue chip companies will agree!

Carrick was never joining us neither was McInnes. I liked Bilic but he isnt an amazing manager. I wonder where we would have finished without Perreira the season we got promoted; I dont think it would be high.
