Again we reach that time where people start wanting a reduction on O/T threads.
For you newer members, not so long ago we had another board specially deidicated for O/T threads. As the number of posters/ees dwindled and the administration involved keeping 4 boards running the O/T board was removed. The decision wasn't taken lightly and if I remember correctly everyone had a say in the decision using an O/T thread
As this board is primarily a football supporters site O/T stands for OTHER TOPIC. It idicates to everyone that the topic isn't about football.
Often they are political or religious which is normally spelt out in the title. If that's not your thng then don't look at them.
Sometimes they are to arange meet ups with other members or simple things like asking for the best pub at an away game.
The ones I like are the ones set out to help other members. The job advertisement one should have been seen as helpfull. I was upset to see that that was taken down after being ruined. It's the second one that has offered help and in my humble opinion they offend no one.
Again this had O/T in it's title so if you weren't ok with it you should have not looked at it.
O/T threads are important to the traffic on this board and will remain as long as FootyMad stops them.
Please understand that they have served great purpose on this board and many users have profited from them.
Thanks for your understanding.

Frog, you deserve a medal for your work on here as does Gestapo Cam. This rubbish about OT appears as regularly (but a lot more often ) as Halley's Comet. It's rubbish for two reasons. I remember the cheerleader for getting rid of OT once was JollyRoger until I pointed out to the rrse that he had started several OT threads and that more than 60% of his posts related to OT threads. The second point is that the "keep it to RUFC football" cretins invariably respond to any observation on that topic beyond a banal UTM with dismissive derision accusing the poster of either being a Pigs' fan or suggesting he should get a football manager's job. I am pleased that you and Cam treat these utterances with the contempt they deserve.
I tend to look at OT on the thread and think it's not about football so I'll have a look.
If I don't like it I don't look at it again.
Imo a decent thread with a really good opportunity ruined.
A sticky thread about rules of the fourms would help frog on MM rules it's said no advertising so natural I reported it and got abused for even mentioning it.
However CAM and you yourself say it's ok so you can see the confusion
However I will apologise for my outburst I had no idea that the advertising rule had been abandoned. However pocket didn't explain this at all ether.
I'm not apologising to yak though he's a knob
I was raised and brought up to follow rules if you broke them you were punished. So rules are hard not to follow
I don't care about OT (or job ads since cam said it was a rule that was never enforced)
I never moan about other OT I just thought ads were not permitted.
Trust me if you have all your entertainment taken away for braking a rule, I don't just mean tv computer radio I mean books paper anything that could pass time and no you couldn't go outside ether. You would be same
Or being locked out in the winter for a half hour
You would go mad about rules too
I think Silly-miller's point is more about the fact that advertising isn't really permitted on MM than the (totally commonsense) point you make, MMM, about not reading posts that are headed OT if you're only interested in football related threads.
In this I think he raises a reasonable point. We don't want to be inundated with advertisements especially spamming ads and those that are looking to trick people in some way. However, I see a difference between those and the genuinely helpful "Millersmad community" ads that are a) raised by a board participant and b) offer something of real potential value to other members. It may be difficult sometimes to draw a line - but I would say that was something that CAM and Frog could pick up on (as they do) rather than have it policed by anybody and everybody.
To me, if its a Miller trying to help other Millers then I support it 100%. If it's posted by non Millers then I'd usually delete it unless it's from one of the other sites' posters who we frequently welcome on here. When my Dad passed away I advertised his garden equipment on here for free and a couple of fans were able to benefit from it. Shortly I'm going to be having a clear out and will be giving away my Millers 'memorabilia' for almost free because since my recent trip back to England I've rediscovered a love for Polo Mints and I need my stash replenishing
Referring back to the OP that started the debate, not that I ever doubted Pocket rocket as he's known by a few on here, but I can assure Silly-miller that his posting was 100% genuine.
