A quarter of the season gone and all three of last season's relegated teams, Sunderland, Hull and Boro, are in the bottom half of the Championship. Are these three not competetive at the top end because they're simply badly run clubs, or is there a need to increase the Parachute Payments ?

I'd rather cut Premier League money and Parachute payments by 50% and give more to lower Divisions and grass roots Sinkov.

How much are the parachute payments,I bet that its an obscene amount,whichever club has got relegated has just spent a very lucrative previous season in the top flight,why give them another payment,it seems very unfair on the other clubs in the Championship if you ask me

They are in a special mini league with Sheffield Utd and Leeds Chalky

Payments have changed as some promoted clubs pocketed the money eg Blackpool

Promoted clubs who are relegated after a single year in the Premier League will no longer benefit from full parachute payments from the 2016-17 season. The change in the rules means that the promoted clubs, Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich, will miss out on a year of parachute payments if they go straight back down at the end of next season.

The parachute payments system is also changing so that the money – at least £64m – will be distributed to relegated clubs over three years rather than four. Clubs who go back down after a single year in the Premier League will get only the first two years of payments rather than the full three years.

Hull will receive £47m in parachute payments next season and £38m in 2018-19 (had they been in the Premier League for more than a single year they would also have been due a third instalment of £17m, in 2019‑20)

Like OC says above, they've all got £47million each and are 13th, 14th and 23rd in the League. It's clearly not enough.

They have also sold a few players too so have pocketed even more!

It's fascinating, Championship clubs have long whinged that the PPs are unfair as they give relegated clubs a huge financial advantage. Well they've got even bigger payments this year but none of them are in the top half. Sunderland seem to be in free fall, Hull as well, but Boro still have Gibson backing them, they can't be short of readies, but they can't challenge either. What's going on ?

What's going on ?

I don't think that it is anything to do with money Sinkov(although it does help), I believe the Manager at the helm has a lot to do with any progress or deterioration, eg, if you look at West Ham Utd it is full over so called star players who cost Millions, yet Bilic has not gelled them into a team, even some of the personal performances of these "stars" have wilted during his tenure, I may well be wide of the mark with my assumption but its the best I can come up with.
