Any money raised from a fanzone would to be fair a drop in the ocean, it may pay for the players an extra shirt.

You’d like to think they will have bigger ideas also .

But like I said earlier at least we have people here now with the time and money to try and improve things and make a change for the better

It's having the vision too ESR , we've got a group of owners with a totally different view to owning football clubs , it would appear .

I'm not suggesting they have all the answers but clearly they have an intent and expertise , new money you might say with businesses built up in the new world of commerce .

I'm as old a f art as an old fart from old fartsville but I have to recognise the changing world and what younger generations like to see , this new ownership isn't really about my generation it's about securing the club's future in the global market , this is where it's at , the age of the golden goal ticket fundraising are long gone .

It's progress in as much as it keeps the club at a level we have come to expect .

We'd have died a slow painful one without it , the last remaining coal mine struggling to remain open surrounded by new world tech industries making profit .

Sad in some respects but as say it aint about me .

The way i see it is that things have changed dramatically over the last 30 years in not just football but general life. What it appears people want these days is the whole package, not traipsing from A to B to C and so on carrying shopping bags in the pyssing down rain. Take the shopping experience for instance. Meadowhall is bursting at the seems on weekends. Why? Cos the people have everything they could possibly want in one area. They can park their car and take their families indoors. Eat at a choice of fast food sh1t holes, go to the cinema, spend hard cash in various shops etc. Meadowhall is a money pit.

If our consortium used that knowledge and applied it to BFC on matchday then they can raise more revenue than people think. If the consortium builds an attractive area in or around Oakwell with all the mod cons and amenities people seem to desire these days then I believe it's possible to make big money. I think it would attract a new breed of fan. It's not my cuppachar by any means but I'm out of touch it seems. I don't like watching any reality T.V. but millions of others do. I'm not into going to retail parks on Sundays to saunter round with the family but millions of others are. Im not into fast food but millions of others are. It's a growth industry and these business people tap into it. It seems they'll take Barnsley football club into the 21st century.

I've said many times it ain't the game I loved and grew up with .

I cut my teeth on crumbling terraces and the only culture I saw was the neatly trimmed privet hedge at the back of the away end at Exeter City in the 80's .

As you say life's changed massively in the last 30 years and folk like me have struggled at times to embrace it , too much too soon is the crux of it .

What I've learned , painfully at times is that you can't control it , King Canute didn't do too well either .

You have to accept it and learn to live with it , I'd give anything for a time machine and an 80's away FA cup day just one more time .

Aint going to happen though .

The pleasing thing is that reading between the lines, these new owners seem to looking at this as a long-term investment, rather than a quick killing. They're not aiming at me or the rest of us oldies, they're setting their sights on the next generation and development of the BFC brand. I suspect Mr Beane's experience of the US model of family-orientated sports will be a huge asset, and I'd be delighted if they can pull it off, even though it's something I personally have no interest in.

My interest is limited to two things: the quality of the football, and the price I have to pay to watch it.

Seem to remember Aldershot was quite a pretty stadium & surrounds

That was in the early 70's don't know what it's like now

Went for the 87 FA cup 4th round tie , 1-1 and Steve Agnew scored .

You paid in at the far end and walked through the home fans down the side to access the away enclosure behind the goal .

    Bizarre .
