I stand by that we need to replace those players to mount a serious promotion challenge. We could maintain our championship status with the current squad but who just wants that? i don't.

I'd also add now on reflection...Look at the players over 30 who probably wont be here in 2 years time. Sharp, Clarke, Donaldson, Stearman, Wright, Holmes, Duffy...7 players. They'll need replacing with better, younger & probably costlier. Will that happen? If He's not backed to do that then Chris will walk.

Finally....i think we've caught Leeds at a bad time for them so im convinced of a victory Saturday. No manager or confidence see's a comfortable Blades home win. Sharp, Duffy & Laffs in for Wilson, Holmes & Stevens.

The season is by no means over. I'm looking at the rest of it with a complete open mind and no expectation now...

Fair points mate. Unfortunately I think Leeds may have wheeled another sucker in by Saturday.

I’m not stupid enough to think we should be matching wolves. I’m naive even to believe we could keep up our earlier form though.

Deny that the players I mentioned aren’t good enough to make us contenders in this league. Ok I might have been harsh on stearman.
The thing you have to realise is that this was almost mirror image in reverse of the game at Bramall Lane.
The in-game possession, shots, corners stats are very similiar showing the home team dominated both games.
That night we were far too good for Wolves, who hardly even had a shot at our goal. No one wrote off Wolves.
I know they went down to 10 men but we were outplaying them before the sending off.

So I wouldn’t judge our season on 1 game.
It’s the first time under Wilders tenure that we’ve been outplayed, so we’re doing something right.
Credit to Wolves, great finishes for the first 2 goals, at 2-0 down we lost heart and the match was effectively over.
Think they’ll do well in the PL.

Yep, that’s the way I see it ASM. The late defeat to Villa and then Wolves has probably come as a shock to the system to some, but even while accepting that there will need to be upgrades going forwards, currently we still have a decent team at this level that can more than hold its own against most teams. We were on a decent run going into the Villa game, and we can kick on again as long as we stick together and back the players we currently have.

i didn't blame Evans when I watched the game so I have just watched the highlights (lowlights?) again. You are wrong mate IMO.
First goal he turned his back after the man had tried to hit the top corner and miss-judged just a little less than we needed...in off the post instead of hitting the post or going wide. It was NOT a direct shot that he, perhaps, could be blamed for not blocking.
Second goal was Bash, and others, at fault but that was the 'best' goal for them last weekend - not the mi**** first nor the deflected third.
