    2. A simple example--There is this NHS hospital with an operating theatre open 24/7 with associated staff. Patient A with little spare income or medical insurance has a painful condition and sees consultant who recommends an operation. Later that day Patient B sees the same consultant with the same condition for the same amount of time but he has wealth or medical insurance. The consultant says (in flowery language) I can put you on the waiting list but you will be behind Patient A but if you pay me (ie go private) I can magically put you well ahead of Patient A and that poor bugger will have to wait as long as it takes. How is that helping Patient A ? Which queue are these private patients joining ?
    1. How is increasing a tax rate closing a scam? If the Chancellor puts 20p on a packet of fags is that closing a scam? Increasing the tax payable for having a company car is no different.
    2. In your example, patient B's decision will have no effect on patient A. It certainly won't push him backwards in the NHS queue as you asserted earlier.. But what about patient C who the Consultant sees the following day? He opts for NHS treatment and is one place further forward in the queue than he would have been had B chisen NHS. B is in an entirely separate private queue.

To help those suffering the burden of having a company car but it is necessary for the job I would suggest the company leases cars/vans etc but they have to be left at work when the shift ends and used again at the beginning of the following day.
Me and you both SB !!

It's not practical to leave the car at the office, my office is in Northampton but I live near Selby ! My cars full of PPE, paperwork, folders, surveying equipment etc. Firemans car is full of uniform and equipment. Still taxed on the same footing as the perk you think it is - but its not.

Most companies don’t offer it though due to admin costs
I suppose in the long run they do what's easier and cheaper for them, but thanks I'll make some enquiries.

Sounds like you should have a company van with your company's name on it
    Would that do?
As a matter of interest what car do you have ?

Take part in a thread or don't - I'm easy either way and it's your decision. If you are going to take part, just try not to have a tantrum and become insulting when things don't go your way.

When it comes to snidey digs I learned them from the master namely yourself

Of course it pushes patient A backwards because we are talking about in this example the same consultant with a finite amount of time
Anyone who can't see that is either blind or Kerr or childish
So as not to disappoint here comes the insult [most would say here comes the truth]
Kerr has the objective of coming on here for the sole purpose of disagreeing with just about everyone as he is also known for on Millers forum
He may consider himself [his posts point that way] to be a far more intelligent being than everyone else but I regard him & his views as coming from an abject excuse for a human being

No, I routinely have to ferry colleagues and/or clients so running around in the works van wouldn't do.
I have a company passat estate, not a bad car but not something I'm particularly inspired by. It's just a tool of the trade like any other. Can't see why I should be taxed to the hilt for it when you see some of what our taxes are spent on.

Forget Patient C thrown in to confuse and complicate the original question.
Where does private Patient B have his operation ? Do all private patients all go to separately built theatres with different staff ? If the private group employing the consultant are "buying" time in the NHS theatre, say 50% of the time, then Patient A will have to wait twice as long in pain, while the private one is jumping ahead of him in the shorter private queue. If there was no advantage in "going private" then why bother ?
