It's weird with managers how some are only good at "big clubs" while others thrive at "underdogs" the leagues are full of examples but closer to home I would cite Jimmy & Clough, both great managers but would either have achieved anything had they changed clubs? Maybe it's because I have always supported a "smaller" club but for me the Manager of the season has to be Dyche but Pep will win it for sure.
I dont think that 2nd in the league to a team who are breaking every record known to man kind in the semi's of the FA Cup and so on when you are in a rebuilding process after the disaster that was Moyes and then his still sub standard replacement is bad going. The bloke is an ass hole of that there is no doubt but he is doing a good job. His ridiculous behaviour in front of the media is however strange. Shaw is an above average premier league defender and he'll be gone soon enough to be replacement by some kind of European show boat dude. QP.
Jose Mourinho is an excellent football manager, as proven by his record.
However, there is no doubt that as the years have gone by he has become more and more aware of his own image, and has become something of a caricature of himself. This is impairing his judgement, because he is now in the business of protecting that image, rather than making good football management decisions.
It happens to a lot of people who have been in the public spotlight for a long time, such as sportsmen, politicians (Margaret Thatcher, Boris Johnson, Gordon Brown) and TV presenters (Jeremy Paxman, Jeremy Clarkson) and usually coincides with a gradual decline in the particular powers and abilities that got them recognition in the first place.
It's not a criticism as such, because in this modern media age it is virtually impossible NOT to become aware of your own image to some extent, especially if your success has made you the centre of attention, but unless these individuals have a well grounded team around them who are prepared to challenge such pretensions, and unless the individual in question is prepared to listen, it's a slippery slope for the sufferer!
