There's no guarantee that the money spent would be spent more wisely.
As pointed out earlier, we'd likely have a smaller squad potentially unable to cope with injuries and suspensions.
It#s good that you realise there is a budget and hence can impact the squad.
How much do you think we should be spending on players?
Yes, you going to come?
Maybe you could get a seat in the away end seeing as that was your main concern![]()
Just a point on the playing budget.
Wasn't it circa £6.5Million.
For a small first team squad of 20, that would be £325,000 per player for signings and wages
A squad of 24 would reduce that to £270,000.
Of course if the players are already at the club, there's no need to be shelling out for transfer fees, but
If the first team player average was £4k per week, then your talking about a potential £1.5M for players.
But then that does not take into account a youth squad, if they averaged £750 a week, then there's about £500k left for transfers
All a bit hypothetical, I don;t know the exact figures, but who can we get in with a £500k transfer budget on £4k a week, bearing in mind we need to replace about 9 players.
That’s because there’s nothing worse than smug Aberdeen fan so far up his own @rse, that he finds 50 Hamilton away fans funny. A ground being built from scratch should be a place everyone wants to go to, away fans included.
It’ll be f*cking shyte though. Milnes involved.
The conversation about spending money we don't earn is all a bit moot I'm afraid. Only two ways to do that is if it is funded by the owner via loans (the sevco model) or funded via bank debt. Milne certainly isn't going to put his money into the playing budget and the days of banks lending money to football clubs to any great extent is long gone in Scotland.
The only realistic way for us to increase playing budget is to earn more income either from bigger attendance including cup runs (beating Motherwell should get us circa £500K as share of final proceeds), more prize money (finishing second gets us £500K over finishing fourth), a better TV deal in future or higher sponsorship/commercial income.
