Bit of a master class in how to play an away game against a free scoring top of the league side.

From what I could see on i-follow we looked really well organised at the back and each Wigan attack was largely deflected before it became dangerous. Everybody seemed to move to the right position in anticipation and pick up movement from the Wigan attackers as they went forward. A joy to watch. Credit to the whole team and the management who really got this psychological important game right.

I'd be interested in how others saw it but I thought Purrington played extremely well in an unobtrusive way. A game that really suited his style of play.

If we do make the play-offs - and the prospect of that happening took a giant step forward today - we will not fear anybody if we keep this level of commitment up.

Fair result a point apiece. We didn't have our shooting boots on and neither did they, credit where credits due though.
We could have been in front early and didn't take the chances.
If we had lost this game it would have been a travesty, we didn't deserve to lose neither did we do enough to win.
Powell going off and Will Grigg being substituted helped us.
Ben Purrington had the best game I've seen him play whilst with us.
My man of the Match.....Icky.....won the all important headers in defence.
Very decent away following and one more point nearer the play-offs.

    Quote from Paul Cook,

" Great credit to Rotherham, we've been a free-scoring team recently and we didn't look like that today, so that's down to the opposition.
" They looked strong and fit in the latter stages of the game and we were comfortable to take a draw "....unquote.

    Great game
Well done Warney, I know why you didn’t but putting that extra striker on near end might have got us them 3 points which we would have deserved imo

Told you we need Ihiekwe back in side, MOTM for me
Why Taylor hasn’t been playing in more games is beyond me also.

    UTMM!!!!

I’ve now no respect for the Refs, they can all **** off

Who says Paul Warne doesn't possess tactical nous. Playing 5 across midfield worked, we went for a point and came away with one, mission accomplished.
Maybe Paul Cook thought we would set up 4-4-2.
Not an easy game to play in or watch, hard working performances from the players and we got what we deserved.

Be interesting to see if he makes any tactical changes Tuesday night at Gillingham. ( Joe Newell )

    Forgot to add;
I’m confused to as why Wigan fans booed the ref at half time, were they doing it for us?

    Very well earned point.

Defence looked solid, hardly looked like conceding, can remember just one decent save from Rodak. We didn't look like scoring after the first 5 minutes, apart from one effort just over by Williams.

Having shuffled the pack a bit, Warne picked the right side & formation for the day. Having said that if Newell & Forde had started I think we would still played the same way.

No free headers given today, Icky looked solid.

Referee was poor for both sides first half, to be fair I didn't notice him second half so he must have improved.

    Very pleased with that point.
