In any other entertainment bizness. would the people keep paying to watch crap week after week year after year. At todays prices I think notts have about 5 years left before the older gentleman disappeared. Because forest will take all the younger fans.

If they get to the Premier league, that is a given.
Kids today are driven by teams on the box. Unless you're rolling in money, on TV regularly and match of the day they don't care that much.

Who'd have thought 40 years ago, local kids would all be buying Man U / City/Chelsea kits round here?

They were 35 years ago when I was at secondary school (Bluecoat, which was a bit harsh for man U fans ).

To have players unable to walk off the field at full time cause they've given everything they have for their club and their wage.

    1) To see Notts run as a successful business

I'm guessing in football terms that would mean we'd need to be L1 or Lower Championship due to the size of our stadium and the state of football generally. But i'd like to not worry about Notts going out of business every time we have a poor season (which is at least half of them).

    2) To see us sell a few players up the leagues for decent money

Another controversial one I know. But whereas clubs like Exeter thrive off this, we're awful at it. The likes of our younger talents like Hewitt, Husin etc could be sold up the pyramid for at least a few hundred grand after a couple of good seasons or nurturing. But it's much more likely they'll all leave on free transfers right now.

    3) To have a normal-size squad with decent cover for positions

We had this last season. We thought we had it at the beginning of this season too, but it's all gone terribly wrong and now we have about 3 teams worth of players.
    ,B]4) A decent cup run[/B]

Partly to lift our spirits and partly for the coffers. I'm not counting the paint trophy here.

    5) To watch a team on the pitch who look like they care

    Sigh!
Items 1,2,4 & 5 look like being non starters for this season l suspect.

Difficult to say what will happen after we move to the new community stadium at Holme Pierrepoint. Probably have to share with the egg chasers again?

My recurrent dream / nightmare is of seeing Meadow Lane being bulldozed and replaced by a topend retail outlet like B & M Bargains.
