Some I've seen mentioned in here

Alan Archibald's name has been mentioned.
He's available after being sacked as manager of Partick in the championship having had them relegated the season previously

John 'Yogi' Hughes is available. He previously guided ICT to Scottish cup success over Falkirk.
He has briefly manager of Raith Rovers and deemed not good enough after guiding them to relegation to league one

Alan Stubbs is available. He previously guided Hibs to victory over SevCo in the Scottish cup. Hibs first Scottish Cup in over 100 years.
He's since failed at Rotherham and St Mirren.

Jack Ross, currently manager of Sunderland and had relative success at his previous roles (Alloa / St Mirren).
Despite having by far the largest budget in the league, Sunderland currently have failed to get to an automatic promotion spot position. Too many draws (41.5% of all league games played) the factor.
Could he become available if Sunderland fail to get promoted?

Graham Potter, he was my shout as potential manager before his success in Europe propelled him beyond our likely reach. Current manager of Swansea sitting mid table in the championship and linked with the Celtic job.

Jim McIntyre is currently manager of Dundee, but having successfully managed Ross County to win the League Cup against Hibs during McInnes's tenure at Aberdeen

Tommy Wright, current manager of St Johnstone, sitting in the bottom half of the league. St Johnstone demonstrably have regressed having previously qualified for Europe, but he did guide St Johnstone to a historic Scottish Cup win over Dundee United courtesy of an on fire Stevie May during McInnes's tenure.#

Gordon Strachan, currently available and apparently reported previously to be buying a house in Aberdeen. Not spotted in Gregs yet, but he's available and currently linked with a return to the Scotland job

Neil Lennon, current temporary manager of Celtic, odds on him not being appointed the role permanently are high, liked by many in here as a better manager (I don't see it). Also linked with the Fulham job along with Steve Clark.

Steve Clarke, undoubtedly has worked miracles at Kilmarnock despite their budget, no success as measured in trophies, but arguably could bring us to the next level. Currently linked with the Scotland and Fulham job's. I doubt he would be tempted by the Aberdeen role, but you never know

Jim Goodwin is probably the best of the up and coming managers with potential.
Took over from Jack Ross (see earlier) and got Alloa promoted and currently sit a respectful 8th in the championship with a recent run of good form after earlier flirting with the relegation spots

Feel free to add others I may have missed.

No, no, no, yes but meantime out of reach, out of reach now, no, no, wouldn't touch us with a barge pole and probably wouldn't be welcomed, interesting, doubt he'd come, needs to manage full-time for a spell -
Would be my assessment of those runners and riders.

Sack manager, see who applies, choose best candidate.

I’d prefer one who isn’t a graduate of the Craig Brown school but I’m really not that fussy.

That's what it would take, we couldn't court managers whilst McInnes is still in the role.
That said, once McInnes was sacked, applicants would then be in the knowledge considering us as a club sacking McInnes who has been successful for us.
I can't but help think back to the last manager we sacked who qualified us for Europe and who Milne put in as his replacement.

Hibs are a reasonable thought of who applied for that role.
Heckinbottom seems to have had a good start, but who else was interested in the role.
Managers like Chris Coleman, Michael Appleton, Jim Magilton and Simon Grayson seem to spring to memory

What about Scott Gemmil, would he be considered?

    Who would appease you Mason?

Jim Goodwin is an interesting one. Surprised Dundee didn't go for him.

At some point (maybe) he'll leave anyway so we will have to replace him. No big deal.

Obviously Milne is ****e at picking managers but the fan boys shirely trust him.

I liked him as a player and he's doing well at Alloa but Alloa have a good set up. It would suit me though as I'm mates with one of his team.

Becuase I don't hark back to him unlike others.
It only came into my thoughts when considering what position we would be in sacking a manger who has repeatedly qualified us for Europe and whether we had any examples of how successful that was.

But you've dodged the question and ignored the other part about who applied for the Hibs role or the Scott Gemmil suggestion.

    Who would appease you Mason?
