I think he was one of the bad eggs. No knowledge just his persona in interviews and effort in most matches. A not really bothered attitude.

I remember his first interview after he signed which is rare, but his was particularly memorable. I've never seen a player look so thoroughly miserable and be so unenthused by answering questions!

I agree, his body language in that interview made it very clear to me that he wasn’t up for it. I think Hardy wanted him signed up to p**s off Mansfield but in the end they got the last laugh. I think his signing fee and wages could have been much better spent but AH just wanted to get one over The Stags.

Two points:-
1. Who is going to score the goals necessary to improve our position now. As far as I can see Hemmings was the only player who could actually hit the target (on a more occasional basis than anyone else in the last 18 months). The rest havent got 10 goals between them in them.
2. People spout on about "freeing up massive wages", and this comment drives me mad. How do we - Joe Public - know who is on what wage, or if someone at a club is on a higher or lower wage than his mate. We don't, but to the usual crop of witless wonders, particularly on Facebook it's "freeing up the massive wage".... usually followed by "we can sign six players with that money".....

It's true that we don't know the specifics, but common sense would tell us that Hemmings would be one of the high earners given his reputation when he arrived at the club.

I don't necessarily agree with those who are especially critical of Hemmings, because it is a fact that he was a bigger goal threat than any of our other strikers, but realistically we're operating in a different budget and wage environment now and players such as Hemmings are likely to leave sooner or later. We should probably use some of his wage, whatever it was, to sign a genuine target man, which you do need in this league, and in fact we needed in the league above.
