Again I disagree. 1985 was roughly the peak year for unemployment in the UK and I'm sure British workers would've jumped at the chance to work legally in European countries, although I admit that Auf Wiedersehen Pet wouldn't have been as good if they were all on regular contracts with social security and transferable pensions.

im not sure what the pro remain MPs hope to acheive by calling an election, part of me would like to see it, it'll be an absolute train wreck for those that are completely out of touch with what the voters in their constituences wanted.

There's 200 odd MPs who can live with no deal and 350 odd that can't. It's all bluster, Oct 31st isn't going to happen.
There are also over 400 MPs who went against the wishes of their constituents and backed remain, some went against leave votes as high as 70/30 many of these mps are being seen as traitors and will be kicked into touch at a general election

we'll have this discussion again on november 1st

Reminds me of the Monty Python 'Romans' sketch!

"Yes, but apart from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Sweden, which other EU country has hung on to its currency?"

As it happens I turned up on old election leaflet from Anna Soubry the other day where she promised she would be "Broxtowe's Voice in Parliament and not Parliament's Voice in Broxtowe".

    That went well!

In truth, Anna Soubry speaks only for Anna Soubry, all the time, anywhere.

The referendum vote in browxtowe was something like 55-45 in favour of leave, spare a thought for the voters of East Hull who's elected representative decided that 73% of his voters didn't know what they really wanted so he made their minds up for them and backed remain in parliament or mr warman in boston who felt that it was right to be pro remain even though 75.6% of is constituents wanted to get out of the EU just a couple of the 400 or so MPs who are in complete la la land and have no clue what their actual job is.
I could probably live with having all of our decisions made in parliament for us if they were the 600 best and brighest minds in the country but they are not.
I say have an election it'll be hilarious watching some of these muppets knocked off their perches never to be heard from again.
