Let,s face it these delays arent instigated to get the best for the British public they are designed to improve the instigator,s career and for self interest. Anyone who thinks the delays are done with best intentions is deluded.

Each MP who delays this process further should be sent an invoice for the cost and additional funds we have to give to the EU. Yet another reason why remainers just don,t understand what they voted for and the consequences of trying overturn the referendum result

The idea has always been to delay for as long as possible and then say we need another referendum as the last one was so long ago.

You miss the point. We need to have this deal properly scrutinised and amended so that it appeals to everyone in this country not just the rich and xenophobic folk but common non xenophobic folk as well probably like yourself. If that takes longer I don't care because personally I don't care about living in a post brexit ERG lead Britain.

Be pleased that we are on the road to Brexit now if you are a brexiteer. Lets get the best one we can for ALL of us eh? A delay will give us the best chance to achieve that because it will be moderated by moderate parliamentarians rather than extreme right wing nutters.

    We both know that Roly.
My point is that those who instigate further delay aren,t acting in both our interests nor anyone else,s for that matter.
They know what the proposal says it,s just kicking the can down the road. Accept it in principle or reject it
They act for entirely selfish reasons and further delay is affecting our economy. It,s selfish for personal gain and they should hang their heads in shame

We can't 'amend' the deal, Roly. That would require renegotiation. And if the EU decide to play hard ball, there's 12 days left in which to do that.

As I've pointed out before, Johnson is required to send a letter to request an extension, but there is nothing within the law to say what else is in the letter.

My guess is that the EU will now join in the game of chicken and will try to force Parliament's hand by leaving a decision on an extension until the 29th or 30th. That may focus a few minds.

Everytime the end comes in to sight somebody backed by a majority in parliament stops the UK leaving the EU despite a mandate from the electorate to do so .

It really is that simple folks .

Now you can take refuge behind wanting the perfect brexit all you want but it seems to me for at least 18 months now that was never going to happen .

Take a deep breath and absorb this fact , the electorate voted to leave the EU .

I'll repeat , the electorate voted to leave the European Union .

If we'd voted to remain this thing would have died 3 and a half years ago .

The electorate voted to leave the EU , how hard is that to understand ? .

Dear Kerr. So are you saying that the only purpose of the Letwin amendment is to stop us leaving the EU with no deal?Letwin said himself one of the purposes was to scrutinise the deal. What would be the point if you can't affect it in some way?

Your point about "chicken" could well be right but a dangerous game to play I would say. The EU still won't want us to crash out with no deal.
