I'm hearing that there might be a possibility we might share a director of football with Atlanta, which would involve the merger of both clubs scouting networks. If and I do stress If this is correct I would imagine McInnes would find it hard to work under a DoF given he turned down both Sunderland and Sevco who both had DoF.

I can see one obvious flaw with this. We don't have a scouting network. Or at least it doesn't feel like we have one given the utter garbage we seem to sign.

Excuse my cynicism, but I can just imagine Ronald de Boer asking who these sh1te players that have been recommended are & having to look up Northampton, Sc*nthorpe & Gillingham on google.

To me this is the main issue, multiple windows of rank rotten recruitment.

Sure, Mcinnes' tactics are frustrating, as is the tombola.

But unless and until we sort out the scouting and recruitment, changing gaffers is moving the deckchairs on the Titanic.

A club the size of Aberdeen needs an efficient, effective and wide reaching scouting department.

The final signing yea or nay does have to rest with the manager, but in this day and age it's not realistic to have the manager scouting personally to any great extent.

We seem to be, finally, seeing some level of green shoots in terms of youth development.

But recruitment and scouting is in dire need of an overhaul.

There seems in this country to be a real issue with the job title Director of Football, but call it Head of recruitment, Director of scouting......whatever, somebody needs to come in and sort it out.

We were buying players from the English lower leagues long before he arrived.

I might be wrong here but when Willie Miller was dof and he made his mate Craig Robertson head of scouting im sure someone said that he was told to only look for British based players.

It will be interesting to see if things change under Cormack because I doubt that Russ Richardson would be refusing to look for players outside of the uk.

When was the last time we signed a non British / Irish player from a non British club?

Obviously we got Leigh on loan from the Dutch team but he is basically a lower league English player. We got Gallagher from US but he’s Irish and there was the Atlanta link.

I’m struggling to think who our last foreign singing from a foreign club was...
