O/T why are there so many mad people about?

Just walk through our town centre and see. Go any day of the week and i guarantee you will either see: someone with mental health issues pinned to the ground by the Police or another person walking through the streets shouting at the top of his voice to no-one in particular.

I can't help think there is a political explanation for the rising numbers of mad people.

I suppose they had mental health issues written across their foreheads or you must know them.

The worlds on its head and it’s of no surprise why there’s so many people having problems, it also doesn’t help with idiots that label them mad.

It’s also a possibility that it’s also being used has a ‘get out of jail’ excuse by lowlife.

Did you pick a leaflet up from NYS that they have been handing out? No I didn’t, never saw any at all so where were they?

A lack of beds for some very ill people is the reason. I work in the mental health sector and the amount of beds that has gone is staggering all over the country. There's one hospital in the north east that used to have 400 beds available, it has about 25 now.

Most are treated in the community but it's heavily reliant on them taking their medications etc and unfortunately many do not.

When I went to Blackpool I was sat with two Blackpool fans who mentioned they both suffered from mental health problems. Tbh they didn't have to mention it as it was obvious. They were decent people and very knowledgeable about millmoor and the miller's.
We got on really well until our 2nd goal went in. I celebrated like we won the world cup and they both just stared at me. Old saying "if looks could kill". FF they had taken there meds

I'd say it's a variety of reasons including lack of funding in mental health services, expanded use of mind altering substances, people buying burgers at Popeye's instead of NYS......the list is endless.

Don't know if it's contributory but does anyone think the expanded opening hours for pubs has played a part? I know there's a lot less of them these days but....?

Riley, didn't that particular hospital in the North East get closed down for mis treatment of patients on a grand scale? If it's the same one, it may have only just opened again hence 25 beds available.

They may have mental illnesses as well.
