I've had got it earlier if I'd read the clues instead of just naming players with the same name as other players.

Winner. Before I reveal, which one gave me away?

I don't bother with the clues, CAM.

As everybody knows, I'm one of Kempo's many alter egos*, so all I do is saddle up all the other sockpuppets, and set them off looking for an answer.

It's a bit like the concept of an infinite number of monkeys with typewriters eventually producing the complete works of Shakespeare; every now and then, a convincing answer pops out the end from one of the others, and I simply post that.

*I'm not really, honest.

I'd been out painting the garage door (as you have to in a pandemic) and had been mulling over potential answers, including Ronnie Radford. When I came in the Edgar Allan Poe reference clinched it (and I then looked up John Radford's birthplace).

I plied my trade at the lower levels of football. Division 4 and non-league.

My 10 minutes of fame overshadowed the real winner. I scored the famous goal against Newcastle but Ricky George scored the winner in that game.

I share a name with another player who was much better known than me. John Radford (Arsenal, WHU)

I helped launch a career. John Motson commentating on the Hereford v Newcastle game claims without my goal and the coverage it garnered his career may have never got off he ground.

I'm a local lad. Born in South Elmsall.

I was the first to achieve something related to BBC broadcasting. First FA Cup goal to win BBC's Goal of the Season.

Amazingly, the player I share a name with was born in the next village to me, but isn't related. John Radford was born in Hemsworth

My first two clubs were in Yorkshire but I didn't get a game with either of them. Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United

The Raven and Big Bird could give a clue to the football ground where I literally shot to fame. Edgar Street, home of Hereford United (Edgar Allan Poe, Sesame Street)

Absolutely. I know Ronnie had his 10 minutes of fame but you can't really compare under 100 games in Division 4 (including the worst ever defeat of a league team by a non-league team in the FA Cup Barnet 6 v Newport 1) to 400+ games at the top level, the 1970-1 Double Winners, Fairs Cup winners and a couple of England caps.
