not for me mate, returning personnel never get it right, time to keep on moving forward and appoint someone with no links to the club IMO

Aw 100% it would be a disaster in the end. Nostalgia never works, but if it did happen, and did work - what a story.

I have to say, I'm not keen on Tommy Wright. I agree, you can't fault his record but I have seen too many managers do well at other clubs and get the United job based on that, only to completely flop and get punted after a fairly short but disastrous period. I'm thinking Ian McCall working wonders at Falkirk with a budget close to zero - surely he'll be amazing at United with a bit of money behind him… nope! Craig Brewster doing fantastic stuff at Inverness - we'll have him, no brainer! Huge mistake. Even Csaba Laszlo had a good record in his time at Hearts and seemed like a decent move for us at the time but ended up setting us back massively. I'm sure there are others.

I don't have a counter suggestion, but just want to warn people against the assumption that someone who has been relatively successful managing a club that we consider smaller than ourselves, that he'll automatically bring similar results to us. It rarely works out like that.

Drop Levein from that trio and I'm with you.

Just give it to Pedro and let him choose whoever he wants as his No2.

We need a safe pair of hands right now, a huge season ahead for us if we are to re-establish ourselves as a top flight club. Two or Three signings required and we cant really afford to get them wrong.

    Exactly mate.

I could go and stick £50 on McJake and he'd probably be joint favourite within minutes. Manager betting, initially at least, is fickle as f*ck.

Is that just the defence you're talking about?

It's coming up for 3 years. He still has it though, he'd come in and do a very good job of called upon.. Just like he did at Falkirk in his last job

Better than most suggestions, apart from possibly Robinson, Wright at a push (rate Houston higher than both tbh)
