As much as people like you don’t like it, it’s imperative at all clubs that you have strong leaders within the group. Doyle is one of them. As is JoB.
Ironically our last 3 ‘successful’ seasons involved teams with older players in it (Munto, Nolan’s dads army and the current mob).
I trust Ardley and the Reedtz brothers to make good signings, as has already happened in the last 12 months.
I am well aware you need youth/experience but imo he isnt worthy of staying here he is too slow.

You cant play a high energy game with him in midfield so we will play a slow stale game.

As for Bird dont know why people have to bring him up everytime young player is mentioned is he the only one available ?!

    [QUOTE=laddo;39548227]What level isn't useless? L2 or L1?

Put it this way we shouldnt be a non league club and take that as a starting point.

Yeah, he had a poor season. It's strange because he looked good in L2 when we signed him. I thought he'd be one of our best players this season, but too often he's looked slow and clumsy. Probably fairly well paid as well.

I did wonder how an Ardley team would function without Doyle pulling the strings and keeping things ticking in the midfield would turn out. Looks like we will have to wait a while longer to see that, guess were trying to keep the spine of the team together believing that if the preseason had been smooth or the season had been fully concluded we would have gone up one way or another.

If I’m Rawlinson or Kelly-Evans I think I would look to go to a different team within the division with promotion potential as Ardley seems to have his favourites and if Brindley and Lacey sign they won’t be in the first eleven.

It’s good to see Sam Osborne being offered a new deal. If (when :-( ) Cal Roberts goes we may need him, and there’s definitely some potential there.

Also interesting to see Dennis is wanted after his play this season.

I’m also sorry to see the back of Crawford; he hasn’t quite made the breakthrough to a regular first team place with Notts, though he’s looked quite good to me.

I think you'll find that the only person to bring the name of Pierce Bird up regularly is laddo, invariably in a sarcastic sense. I suspect that's because I once said I thought he had potential at this level and was worth keeping. Even though neither will be world beaters, I think Bird and Tom Crawford will forge a career at this level or higher. I will keep an eye out where both of them play next season.

Dennis? Look at his record of goals and assists per minutes played. Far better than anyone else.

Quite happy with the decisions made by Ardley as long as the gaps are filled by good signings.

Why all this talk that Roberts won't be here next season?

Sorry didn’t realise we had Rawlinson signed up for the coming season. I’m also surprised we have so many player signed up, I guess that some must have signed before the play-off squad was announced.

I liked Wes Thomas during the season but presumed Scott Wilson had been signed as his younger replacement, what was the point in signing him (Wilson) when we did? We didn’t have injury concerns did we? Seemed pointless at the time at even more pointless now, If I remember rightly.

Disappointed to see Crawford go. Midfield is pretty much a complete rebuild because no way will Doyle play the bulk of next season if we're going to move forwards and JOB isn't young either.
The season starts in October so it's two games a week for a good chunk of the season and Doyle and JOB can't do it.

I’m not unhappy to see Rose go. I am surprised we’ve offered Doyle a new deal.

Jury was still out with Crawford. Booty just wasn’t fit enough.

Not surprised it bothered about the other guys.
