No problem with him as a player, but:

1. Not a loan. Jeezo we have been there before.
2. Somebody must be on the way out. Hopefully not Ferguson to them in swap.

Setting aside the utter stupidity and futility of signing someone who can't play against a team that we would likely have to beat to win a cup, we currently have five centre backs and six defensive midfielders in our squad but not a fit centre forward to be seen anywhere so can someone tell me why we would waste what little is left of our budget on McCrorie?

Looking at Pompey sites from last season, he played mostly at Right Back it appears?(Oh and they aren’t upset he isn’t coming back!) Didn’t have the technical ability for centre mid they seemed to think, or tendency to wander upfield randomly. So is it bye to Ronny already, or did Derek just see his height stat and thought that would work in the centre of midfield...?

Yip, pretty much this ^^^^
If we have to play half the season with just Anderson & Main as fit strikers, but are signing another defensive midfielder, it further unbalances the squad.
Surely a good striker is priority?!
