I've never had Sky or BT. Bought a two month subscription last season to watch our run in on Sky via NowTV. I've always thought nothing beats being at the game and watching it unfold in full view. Nothing that I saw on the box last season has changed that perception. I felt the coverage was awful and the experience was totally soulless without supporters in attendance.

I thought about the year long subscription to NowTV for this season for all of a nanosecond before deciding against it. PPV confirms that I made the right choice. The radio's free (for now) and so are the highlights (again, for now). Although I love the Albion, other than the atmosphere and the wider view offered by live attendance, the biggest thing I miss about going to the football is the social aspect.

If I bought a TV subscription then under current guidelines I couldn't even invite my mates around to watch it so we could talk b@ll@cks and have a laugh before and after the game. Football's been eating itself for years, it's the public's choice as to whether they swallow the chewings. I'm out. It's strictly the radio and highlights for me now. And if they start charging for those then I'm gone.

What the Premier League is doing is appalling. The whole of the country is facing difficult times and they are awash with money. There should be a cap on what clubs pay for players in the transfer market and the amount of wages individual players receive. This money should then be allocated to clubs in the lower leagues. Some clubs will go to the wall for the want of as little as £500,000. Peanuts to Premier League clubs and many, many players. What is wrong with these people? Don't they have a conscience?

Don't they have a conscience? I’d say no.

Agree Thomas, they can’t have, middle of a pandemic hundreds of thousands added to the unemployment list and these tossers want to squeeze a few more quid out of us supporters, Leicester are the only club who voted against and come out with some credit.

Rather stick to my dodgy box - £100 a year to see any live football match in the world - live per view of anything and watch any film you can think of. That’s good value!

If you don’t like it don’t pay!

What on Earth is the problem here?

All the usual free to air football is still on!

People get so wound up about something that is purely personal choice.

For the Burnley match I think I might ask if I can pay a fiver upfront, 50p a month for 6
months and an extra 3 quid if we win. Worth a try

Mick I think you are missing the point, prior to this move all games were either on standard premium channels, or free to air, so for example if you didn’t have a sky subscription you could if you chose pay £9 via tv now to watch the game. Increasing this to £14 in the middle of a pandemic shows the aloofness and disconnect between the Premier League and the communities its clubs are supposed to represent, and how out of touch they are with the real lives of ordinary working class people. For you Mick it is a matter of choice but for many watching their team is the only bit of escapism they have, hiking the price by 50% come on mate that’s just appalling. I’m no lefty but when things like this happen Capitalist greed has a lot to be ashamed of.
