Stoke City Post Match Thoughts

Is it a tribute to how far we have come when a 1-0 loss away at Stoke City feels like a missed opportunity or just like last time around are we doomed to a lot of huffing and puffing but lacking the quality and killer instinct to survive at this level? Wins and draws from many around us this weekend and all of a sudden that relegation line is looming large. Strong starting line up today and the substitutions that were being called for were all made in a timely manner to no avail.

When watching Ladapo, I am reminded of the comments made by Brian Clough.

Well after 62yrs a Miller it's no surprise, they build you up they let you down.No efforts on goal in 95mins will never get us any points.Only good thing I can get well oiled tonight without an excuse,oh & Wendies lost.

In general play they didn't look any better than us. The effort was there but it's worrying that, whatever we did, we couldn't create decent chances. Half chances were wasted. We had 60+ minutes after they scored to try and get one back but their keeper wasn't tested - I can't even remember him having to come for any crosses. We are playing much better than last time in this league. We have some real talent and potential. We need some bite up front - not sure what Warney can do about that.

Not at all surprised by the result but very disappointed with the lack of energy and creativity. Very little threat up front and I lost count of how many times we gave the ball away.
Difficult to pick a man of the match but I'll go for Harding.

Wingers were passenger. Again no firepower. At this rate it could be 2021 before our strikers score.
