Gallagher i hear has been very good for Scotland since he came in, but ive not seen much of Scotland as like many, i have been scunnered by how poor we became under successive managers. Said to friends for far too many years that we should be giving Scottish based player more of a chance than scraping the barrel for the likes of Chris Iwelumo! Just look at what happens when that is actually how the manager works his squad!
With him being of a SSB persuasion, i really could not understand why Andrew "Hat Trick" Considine was brought into the squad, but get his name in the squad for next summer!
Did we ever establish why no Shankland amongst the many subbies incl two goalies? Apparently he and Taylor were the only ones not stripped? Can I proffer too that Shankland has lost half his transfer value in 4 months?
Had a look at the other teams playing last night and they all had two subby keepers listed. I guess you're only a red card or an injury away from being down to one and with 12 subs, it's maybe not seen as being worth the risk listing only one sub keeper. We had three other strikers on the bench tbf.
I've watched all the Scotland games in the last few years. One of the problems that Clarke faced when he came in was our weakness in the CB positions. When he brought Gallagher in I wasn't sure for 2 reasons - one he's got a serious spent conviction, and two would he be good enough. So far he's proved to be a revelation and hasn't had a bad game since starting.
I always had confidence Clarke would slowly transform us but I began to have second thoughts when the first back 3 lineup proved a disaster. But fair play to him he's stuck with it and we are improving. Not sure that McTominay is good enough at CB to be effective v the likes of Engerland and Croatia though. I think Liam Palmer is a better right back than O'Donnell but O'Donnell is getting the nod due to his physical presence and combative style.
The addition of Dykes has made a massive difference and John McGinn's emergence in midfield is the focal point for everything.
The fact that none of these players plays for either Celtic or the Rangers is also a massive positive. We now have a Scotland team that Celtic and the Rangers players add to instead of a Scotland team made up of Celtic and the Rangers players that others add to. The other thing is we are growing strength in depth, last night the starting lineup was missing Fraser, Armstrong, Forrest, McLean and Griffiths.
We are nowhere near the finished article and will need to continue improving if we're going to do well in the summer, but Clarke has done a terrific job and also has no Glasgow connection.
Had a quick look at the lap top before work and noticed Booking confirmation easyjet.![]()
That's what it means.
