    Do lockdowns work ?

Lockdown began March 23rd, hospital admissions peaked April 1st, given the time lag between catching the virus and being ill enough to be admitted to hospital, hospital admissions began to fall a week before lockdown could have had any effect on it.

Lockdown began March 23rd, death rate peaked on April 8th. Given the time lag between catching the virus and dying from it, the death rate began to fall two weeks before lockdown could have had any effect on it.

Lockdown 2 began November 5th, hospital admissions peaked and began to fall November 11th, given the time lag between catching the virus and being ill enough to be admitted to hospital, hospital admissions began to fall a week before lockdown could have had any effect on it.

Lockdown 2 began November 5th, hospital admissions began to rise again on November 28th, whatever caused hospital admissions to begin rising again occurred while the country was in lockdown.

Lockdown 2 began November 5th, the death rate peaked and began to fall on November 18th, as in April two weeks before lockdown could have had any effect on it.

Whatever caused the peaks and falls in death rates and hospital admissions, social distancing, tier systems, herd immunity, a mix of all three, something else entirely, I have no idea, but what is clear is that the lockdowns had no impact at all, the virus ignored them completely and did it's own thing.

From the BBC's Health Correspondent Nick Triggle''

"The latest hospital occupancy data has been published in England. It shows in the week ending 13 December, 89% of beds were occupied, leaving 10,500 empty beds. That means hospitals were actually busier this time last year, when 95% of beds were occupied."

Something else Mr Hancock wasn't telling us yesterday, in fact I'm surprised the BBC mentioned it, but it wasn't headlines, it was buried away.

Nothing to do with masks Sinkov says Telegraph

EMMANUEL MACRON has conceded he made a mistake shaking someone’s hand before testing positive for coronavirus.

The 42-year-old French president admitted his error yesterday hours after the Élysée Palace announced he was ill and going into isolation – prompting frantic contact tracing across Europe to find others he may have infected.

He also faced accusations he had broken his own government’s guidelines, which state only six people are allowed to sit down to share a meal.

If i remember correctly, I tried to start a sweep, but as I was the only one who gave a number, I am going to win it.

From the World Health Organisation, Mask use in the context of COVID-19: interim guidance, 1 December 2020.

"A mask alone, even when it is used correctly, is insufficient to provide adequate protection or source control."

" For any mask type, appropriate use, storage and cleaning or disposal are essential to ensure that they are as effective as possible and to avoid an increased transmission risk.

"the use of a mask alone, even when correctly used, is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection for an uninfected individual or prevent onward transmission from an infected individual"

"At present there is only limited and inconsistent scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including SARS-CoV-2"

"The potential disadvantages of mask use by healthy people in the general public include:

    "headache and/or breathing difficulties"
"development of facial skin lesions, irritant dermatitis or worsening acne"
"a false sense of security leading to potentially lower adherence to other critical preventive measures such as physical distancing and hand hygiene"

    https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/...=1&isAllowed=y

Nothing new there really, just what I've been saying all along, they're not much use, and when not used correctly, and they're not used correctly 99% of the time, they can lead to increased transmission risks. Study the above and do what I do, give mask wearers a very wide berth, they think they're safe, they're not.

You are very selective in what you copied

Here’s more from WHO updated 1 Dec 2020 that says otherwise.

    https://www.who.int/emergencies/dise...w-to-use-masks

    Masks should be used as part of a comprehensive strategy of measures to suppress transmission and save lives;

If COVID-19 is spreading in your community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. Check local advice where you live and work. Do it all!

Make wearing a mask a normal part of being around other people.
The appropriate use, storage and cleaning or disposal of masks are essential to make them as effective as possible.

    Touche!

I have it on good authority that the WHO have persuaded the education authorities that the new subject Covid-19 should be introduced into the syllabus for GCSE next year.
Anyone who wishes to go on to University must possess at least a B in the subject, otherwise they will be banned from attending.

I believe that the reasoning behind this is that all those Uni students who wish to go on to be career politicians will be well versed in the subject, nay, indeed, they will be qualified and should be able to convince everyone that they know best without any further need to consult scientists etc.

Who needs to know about Maths, English and IT stuff when you can be well versed in Covid-19? Sorted!
