All the shenanigans of the last five years were Rory Bremner's fault.

He averted a Tory coup against John Major in 1993, otherwise it is quite possible we would have left the EU around that time.

That is really rather astonishing. Would have saved us billions if he had kept his trap shut.

I believe the Yellow Peril are going to vote against the deal 59. How does that work, since the only result of the deal not passing would be we leave without a deal, the LibDems are now voting for No Deal. Now I wouldn't mind that, but your bunch of charlatans have spent the last four years saying no deal is the last thing on earth that should happen, and now they're voting for it.

I have no doubt I will be hugely entertained by your attempt to spin this one. After your attempts at excusing the 'overturn 17 million votes' debacle, have another go. Best of luck mon ami.

The silence is deafening! Mind you, sinkov, I don't think that you are being fair to 59 because he does his bit locally but I doubt that he is involved in the yellow peril policy making -------unless, of course, you know different!

Exactly the same nonsense from the SNP and DUP. Braindead does not quite cover it.

    Evening!

I would have voted for the rotten deal. but only because it is better than no deal.

I have heard, and have sympathy for, the arguments from the Lib Dems, SNP, Greens and Plaid, but I don't agree with them.

We are still having to follow the EU trading rules, but have no say in formulating them. If we step out of line the EU will come down on us like a ton of bricks. Our financial sector is desperately hoping that the EU shows us pity, and Northern Ireland is, effectively, still in the EU, with there being a border in place between it and the rest of the UK.
Our national security has been badly undermined. We are no longer free citizens to travel, work, study or live where we decide.

Why the hell did we do it??
We will look back on this period as one where we let the self harmers do a lot of damage to our economy for no other reason but the oft quoted, but totally wrong, reason of "!We have taken back control".
We have NOT taken back control. With this deal we must follow EU rules in which we have no say, or face the consequences.

But...the deal is slightly better than no deal. Realistically, those were the two choices.

Following four hours of debate, MPs voted by 521 to 73 in favour of the European Union (Future Relationship) Bill, ratifying the agreement announced on Christmas Eve, a third reading.
Now to the Lords and Royal assent.

    No toasting with champagne guys!

Three shadow cabinet unknowns resign in protest.

Reminds me of the time during the negotiations when I decided no more French or Spanish wines, I'd buy English, I've tried a few and they're fine, so bollox to Rioja and Bordeaux. Then it occurred to me that all the English vineyards whose wines I'd be buying were in the south, in serious Remoaner country, no bigoted, racist, little Englanders would be growing grapes in Sus***, I'd be lining the pockets of die-hard Remoaners, I'd be cutting my nose off to spite my face. So it was back to the Medoc, Madiran and Tuscany for me.

Big problem at 11pm tomorrow though, which of the standbys to pop open, Pol Roger or Bolly, at the moment I'm leaning towards Pol as a tribute to that greatest of Englishmen, Sir Winston, I believe he drank Pol by the bucket-load.

I'll happily pop the cork off a bottle of Pol with you sinkov. How's about synchronised cork popping?
