As soon as Mark Ogren mentioned making a profit the writing was on the wall. I mean, does anyone truly believe this is a possibility?

Certainly difficult. But everything has been made 10000000000x times more difficult by everything thats happened in the last year. The reality is, the crowds we would have had at the end of last season for title winning matches, then our first few games in the Premiership, coupled with Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs away crowds this season, we would have started to turn things round financially. I don't think he expected to make a profit straight away but to be able to implement a model that means the club is constantly making profits that lead to him making money himself. Covid has f**ked any real chance of that happening over the next 2-3 years. We'd need some ridiculous transfer activity over the next few years for him to have any chance of 'making money'. You have to wonder if that stance has changed from making money to making United as successful as they can be.

People need to remember that those accounts were for season 2018/19, when we brought in a new team in January and weren't able to get rid of the deadwood at the same time.

We are now two years further on (latest accounts for 2019/20 should be out in the next couple of weeks) which should give a more realistic view of the spending on wages.

Given we've signed our three highest earners, on a reported near £10k a week salary between them, I don't think the accounts are going to look too pretty.

add into that the costs of the academy coaches then they are probably going to be even worse than before.

Its been said a thousand times over that we needed to have certain criteria in place to achieve elite academy status. Which will allow us to attract a better standard of footballer. Which will allow us to be more successful on the park. Will will allow us to make more money on these players.

How hard is it to understand?

That would go in the 2020/21 accounts, which won't come out for another year.

I'm sure everyone would agree that our squad in May 2020 was a heck of a lot smaller than in January 2019
