I remember 1 day when I was on 12's heading that the belt broke down and 2 fitters were sent down to fix it, the part they wanted they didnt have with them so had to send up top for it, while they were waiting with nowt to do they decided to have snap early and work through snap time when the part they needed arrived. Suddenly from what seemed like nowhere the undermanager walked up to the lads and asked what they thought they were doing as it was an hour away from snap time, they both looked at each other and then one of them said "whats it feking look like were doing" the undermanager replied with " I can see your eating your sandwiches but its an hour before snap" so the bloke replied " Oh you can tell the time then" the undermanager was not amused as you would have thought and he came back with "Do you know who I am?" and the guy that had not said a word up to this point said to his mate "he might be bright enough to tell the time but hasnt got a clue who the feck he is" so his mate replied "I wonder if he is an undermanager (knowing full well he was) because there as thick as feck most of the time" the other guy and myself just creased laughing and the undermanager fecked off mumbling summat about them being clever fruckers lol I was sh1tting myself cause I thought I was deffo going to get the sack that day.

Interesting, in that jargon list is the word “bobbin” which I came across in my MOD career and dealing with the army.

I never knew it was a pit term.
