Probably the most disappointing performance of the season for me and we deserved nothing from that game at all. We did not test the keeper once in the entire game. To be fair to Cheaterfield they did a job on us by pressing, working hard, giving us no time on the ball and nullified any threat because we did not have the dominance of play or possession. We did not have anywhere near the quality, energy, creativity or spark to overcome that in the final third as has been the case many times this season.

It's games like today where our lack of creativity and ability to score more goals is going to cost us points. It puts more pressure on us getting a result against Stockport next.

There is no doubt about it we are far weaker up top this season having lost Thomas and Dennis. If we fail to get promoted this will be one of the key reasons.

You are certainly right we need to work out how to combat this type of threat, tbf they were exceptional by non league standards 1st half with their energy, commitment and positiveness. The one thing I said Ardley got wrong in the relegation season is he overthought it and today not sure if he got it wrong or our group just can't handle that type of side. What ive seen today is Chesterfield are extremely likely to make the playoffs and our chances of winning the title are a lot less likely, we'll make the play offs but there needs to be an honest assessment internally how we deal with these games going forward if we want to challenge.
That weren't exceptional Matt! We were just really poor.

My god. Some people's standards have slipped soooo far. It's worrying.

Awful game that. I expected a narrow defeat, but that doesn’t make the result any easier to take.

The fact that Ardley took so long to make a sub, is absolutely criminal given how the game was going.

The fact we had 60% ball possession yet had zero shots on target is extremely worrying.

As is the fact that in 20 league games we’ve only scored 26 goals. Ardley needs to wise up quick, otherwise it’s another season in non-league.

You manage the biggest club, with the best facilities in the league Mr Ardley, it’s time you started delivering on a more consistent basis.

Sam and Effiong aren't the answer - neither look to be natural and regular goal scorers.

I know Kyle is or was was 2nd in the scoring charts but he's the only one Notts have in the top 20.

Knowles is still learning his trade and maybe one for the future, and he isn't Notts' player.

As somebody wrote on here recently, Notts seem to wait for chances to come their way rather than create them.

So many problems with today's performance...

Are you going to be able to play out from the back when your full-backs are Kelly-Evans and Miller and your CM is the 39-year old Michael Doyle?

Didn't the Dagenham game show you can thrive at home with just one holding midfield player?

When things clearly aren't working, you are allowed to change things right?
It was ludicrous to ask Miller and the rest of the back four to play Russian roulette keep-ball across our own box all game long - that's where the bulk of the game seem to be played...

Ardley must be one of the guys who goes nuts if he finds that any of his stuff has been moved or something...he gets wedded to things for the sake of it and doesn't have the flexibility to take radical decisions when they are needed. But to be fairer to him, when maybe your two best players (Rodders and Wooters) have absolute stinkers, it's not going to end well anyway.

I think we do need an experienced proven goalscorer at this level to support Wootton and take the pressure of him. Dennis was that man as he had done it at Macclesfield previously. I don't want to open up the debate about we should have kept him, or we let him go as that ship has sailed and you can't begrudge anyone wanting to play at the highest level they can.

What I will say is we need someone similar and of the same ilk and qualities as Dennis.

HArdley was on about bringing a couple of players in. Defenders most prob. Plus, how many players does he bloody need?

I think maybe you have got it wrong matt. You've probably been reading the myth on here that if posters only appear after a defeat, it means they have an agenda against Ardley and want Notts to lose just so they can moan.

It's not true. Football is an emotive game where defeat hurts. Some react in a knee-jerk way, but it's because they are angry and frustrated, not because they want us to lose.

Well no one has done it too often at the lane this season and last, granted a a small few have. It's probably a good thing, we need to assess now as we're not halfway through the season (nearly), points are on the board and that's a positive. We are seriously weak upfront in the CF positions, I think Doyle and Reeves have been decent centre mid but do we need another option in there, not sure its Wolfe, just someone a bit more different as an option.

Not good news at all - whilst ever Ardley persists with Doyle we have very little chance of getting out of this sh*t league. Doyle must be dropped, no question!
