Our chances of an immediate return to the Championship

Some big fish in league 1 next season & a massive one in the case of our friends down S6 way of course

    Sheff Wed
    Pompey
Sunderland(assuming they miss out in the play offs)
    Ipswich
    Charlton
    Bolton(a team on the up)

I can't help thinking we won't be bouncing back at the first attempt next season. Automatic promotion in league one is notoriously difficult to achieve and there will be some big competition next season.
Play offs at best but I can only see a finish around 10th next season

    Hope I'm wrong

It will be tough, likely to be through the play offs if we are to be promoted.

That said we may sign 8 world beaters

    More likely 8 egg beaters

4 of those 'big' clubs were all there last time we were promoted (OK there's the old ppg nugget and the fact we weren't playing well when the season was ended) and looking at their financial tribulations, SW will more likely be relegated again than pushing for promotion. I'd say our chances of an immediate return are better than 50/50.

Mid table at best, although I think I said that last time.

But the old up down up down can't go on forever.

Sheff Wed - No money, absolute joke of a way to run a football club. Should be near the top but wouldn't surprise me if they are down near the bottom with even more point deductions. Who will go there when they probably won't get paid?
Portsmouth - Big club at this level but stuck. Have been for a few years, nothing that stands out for us to fear.
Sunderland - Also stuck. Not sure about them financially now but must be losing money at this level. Saying that I expect them to be up there.
Ipswich - Full rebuild. Club in the mud. Overhaul may be what is needed or an entirely new squad may take too long to gel. Interesting to see how they go.
Charlton - No money. Decent but can't see how they have resources to really strengthen this offseason. Sold many of their stars over the last couple of years. Average now.
Bolton - Squeaked through to be promoted above Morecambe in League 2. Still huge money issues, not considering them at the moment.

Basically, being financially sound is a bloody decent starting point and although we have some issues, plenty of other teams have worse ones. Whether that be players or a culture of being stuck.

If Wycombe keep Ainsworth I would have them projected to finish higher than most of that list. Even though they won't have the traditional size of the club backing / big fan base etc.

We have a strong core and if we add well then I see us in and around the playoffs again. Hopefully.

Couldn't agree more about Wycombe MillersTime, they will be bang there if manager stays UTM
