I’m with you Elite. Ruben showed what he was about in the run in. Anyone who thinks his performances prior to that were player of the season standard have a low opinion of Ruben himself. Yes he showed glimpses however Ardley used him sparingly primarily due to Ruben not being suited by the formation we played. Can’t play CM in a 2 or as a winger. It’s no coincidence that IB had him out of the squad completely for a while at the start of his reign, providing Ruben with some tough love. IB then tried Ruben as a roaming CF, and boom we found his position and Ruben began to flourish.
Ruben is very much a work in progress and is suited by modern tactics that are less rigid than a 4-4-2 (which Ardley largely played regardless of who was available)
I look forward to seeing players like Ruben and Roberts in tandem, destroying teams with their obvious technical qualities. Wootton will have a massive role and will need to develop as forward that holds the ball up better and brings these 2 into the game.
The future is bright. The future is black n white.

Slocombe has been the most consistent imo.
If the games had been played in reverse order (last game fist and first game last etc), Ruben would have struggled to get a vote. That’s why I wouldn’t consider him in a player of the season vote. He is certainly a player to look forward to watching next season though.

Wootton got my vote just ahead of Slocombe, but the votes have been counted and the winner is the winner.

Well done Rúben da Rocha Rodrigues. The radar was certainly working when we signed him. Hopefully more quality like him to follow.

I think you can look at it either way. Elite is right in his way as it says player of the season so the whole season. For me it's the player who gave me the most enjoyment this season, that's my player of the season and it would be Ellis or Ruben in that case. Also Chicksen improved 100% under IB. For the whole season Wootton or Slocombe though.

If a player comes on after half time and scores a hat trick, should he not be awarded man of the match because he didn't play the whole game?

Ruben for me the whole way. Why can we as Notts fans, just for one brief moment, celebrate the positive without having to inject some negative. He was an inspiration towards the end and for me one of the brightest sparks throughout a tough season. He is young, eager, technically very talented and is absolutely the kind of player we should be blending into the team. Mix with some experience but hungry older pros and we have a fantastic opportunity this year. WELL DONE RUBEN , young, bright, talented yet down to earth family man .

That's just as silly and arbitrary as say scrambling Wootton's games and putting the 12 game goaless stretch, or whatever it was, at the end.

I thought you'd given your opinion, but if you're hellbent on taking away from Notts' Player of the Season, carry on.
