I love all forms of cricket, if I see a cricket match on a field while I am walking I always stand and watch.

forwardmagpie, surely you draw the line at T10, although I doubt this actually qualifies as cricket 😁. Although 'The Hundred' is aimed at getting young people into cricket, I see it hastening the demise of test cricket 😡

India have been in the UK since June. JUNE. In that time they have played 3 proper games, 2 v us and one v NZ. Other than that the players were again tasked with playing sub standard cricket.
The England players would have all the excuses in the book if that was them. India have got in with it.
I agree that those teams you mentioned are better than us. In white ball cricket we are the dominant country in World cricket. Yet the players that play in that can’t or won’t transfer their obvious talents to the longer format of red ball cricket. Our players should look no further than the Indian openers. Both excellent white ball batters. How have they got on in these 2 tests? Then you look at our openers…
How can I spell this out I dont care what other teams do that is their problem.

Im saying we havent given ourselves the best chance/preperation of beating a very good India side on home soil where OUR fans are paying top money.

We as in the ECB have put in a new competition which not only impacts the test side but also county sides, Notts 50 over team was 75% reserve team but with the final at TB not Lords they dont care about it.

White ball and red ball are totally different skillsets mate.

Roy is a superb white ball opener but no good in red ball vice versa for Cook.

It isnt as simple to be good at all formats very few players are that is why most test teams are different to one day sides.

It doesnt help we have played loads more cricket then everyone else either stuck in hotels for weeks on end but again its the ECB and £££

Having had business dealings with the ECB, I can assure you that they won't let common sense and logic get in their way when it comes to the future of English cricket.

Sorry but it's no comparison to the old English art that is "Stool Ball".

Totally agree. Cricket has spread itself far too thinly by allowing the hundred to happen during an already busy season. I’ve been to one 100 game and although I enjoyed it I was nowhere hear as enthused as when I watch Notts or England

It was certainly a popular game in Nottingham schools during the '70's

That rapidly went from something I'd never heard of to a recognised sport.
